Trump Warns Of Starvation In Gaza; Threatens Russia Sanctions; Says Epstein Media Obsession Is A Hoax; As The U.S. President Meets With UK PM Starmer
July 28, 2025

President Donald Trump and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer addressed several key issues during their meeting at his golf club in Turnberry in Scotland, including the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, a shortened deadline for Russia to end the war in Ukraine, and the ongoing fallout surrounding Jeffrey Epstein.

Trump emphasized the urgency of addressing starvation in Gaza, set a new 10 to 12-day deadline for Russia to reach a ceasefire, and denied any involvement in the Jeffrey Epstein case.

Starmer was accompanied by his wife, Victoria Starmer, as he arrived for the talks. Trump and Starmer shook hands and chatted outside before taking questions from reporters. Their conversation couldn’t be heard over the sound of bagpipes that serenaded the prime minister on his arrival.

Trump On Gaza-Israel War

Speaking to reporters, the U.S. President acknowledged the "terrible" situation in Gaza and stated that the U.S. would set up food centers to address the crisis, emphasizing the need to "get the kids fed." He criticized Israel's claims that there was "no starvation in Gaza," suggesting that the situation was real and required immediate action.

Trump told reporters after greeting Starmer in Turnberry, that the two leaders would discuss the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and said he believed a ceasefire was still possible.

"The whole place is a mess," Trump said when asked if Israel has done enough to limit civilian deaths. "They have to get food and safety right now," he added.

Trump said that there was “real starvation” in Gaza, breaking with Israel as the U.S. ally faces intense pressure to lift restrictions on aid with hunger spreading in the besieged enclave.

His comments came amid mounting global outrage over rising deaths from malnutrition under Israel’s military offensive on the territory.

The Israel Defense Forces began limited pauses in fighting in three populated areas of Gaza on Sunday for 10 hours a day. But aid groups have warned the trickle of aid entering the enclave is not enough to stave off famine.

Trump emphasized the importance of getting food to children in Gaza. "We have to help on a humanitarian basis before we do anything, we have to get the kids fed," Trump said. He said the U.S. would help set up food centers and supply funds.

The President said that he had seen images of Palestinians on TV and that “those children look very hungry.” He later added that the scenes were “real starvation” and that “you can’t fake that.”

Trump also said Hamas won't release the remaining living hostages and suggested a different approach toward the group might be needed, without elaborating.

"I always said, when you get down to the final 20 they won't release them, because that's like their shield," Trump said. "And so something's going to have to be done."

Some of Trump's views were echoed by Vice President JD Vance, who said in response to a question at an event in Canton, Ohio Monday, that the Trump administration was “very worried about the humanitarian problem in Gaza” and wanted to make sure starving children got food.

"We are very worried about the humanitarian problem in Gaza," Vance said. "We see a lot of starving children. We want to make sure they get food."

He also said that they needed to ensure that Hamas "gets the hell out of Gaza." Vance recalled seeing images of "really, really heartbreaking cases" and kids "starving to death."

The partial easing of restrictions in Gaza under the new round of “tactical pauses” has done little to quell fears about the spiraling hunger crisis.

“This is progress, but vast amounts of aid are needed to stave off famine and a catastrophic health crisis,” United Nations Emergency Relief Coordinator Tom Fletcher warned in a statement.

Trump On New Deadline For Russia To Agree To Ceasefire With Ukraine

During the press conference in Scotland, Trump announced he's considering a new deadline of "about 10 or 12 days" for Russia to end its war in Ukraine, expressing disappointment with Russian President Vladimir Putin. He warned of potential secondary sanctions on countries that continue to trade with Russia if a ceasefire is not reached.

Trump told reporters that he might move ahead with severe tariffs and secondary sanctions on Russia earlier than a 50-day deadline he imposed in mid-July for reaching a ceasefire agreement with Ukraine.

“I’m going to reduce that 50 days that I gave him to a lesser number because I think I already know the answer, what’s going to happen,” Trump said.

"I'm going to make a new deadline of about 10 or 12 days from today," Trump said. "There's no reason we’re waiting," he added.

Trump On Epstein

Responding to questions about late child sexual predator Jeffrey Epstein, Trump said he threw him out of his Mar-a-Lago club and cut ties with him years ago because “he stole people who worked for me.”

Trump said Epstein poached at least one more employee from him after he was warned not to do it again.

“That’s such old history, very easy to explain, but I don’t want to waste your time by explaining it,” Trump said after a reporter asked him about what led to the rift between the two men and Epstein’s exile from Trump’s Palm Beach, Florida, club.

“But for years, I wouldn’t talk to Jeffrey Epstein. I wouldn’t talk because he did something that was inappropriate,” the president said.

“He hired help, and I said, ‘Don’t ever do that again.’ He stole people that work for me. I said, ‘Don’t ever do that again.’ He did it again,” Trump said.

Epstein then became “persona non grata,” Trump said.

“I threw him out, and that was it. I’m glad I did, if you want to know the truth,” he said.

Trump emphasized he never visited Epstein's infamous island and saying he had "never gone to the island" and "turned it down in one of my very good moments."

The President also said that no one had approached him about pardoning convicted sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell, an accomplice to Epstein.

"I'm allowed to give her a pardon, but ... nobody's approached me with it. Nobody's asked me about it," Trump told reporters when asked about the issue. The president added that it would "inappropriate" to talk about the matter.

Trump also said that the Epstein files are a "hoax" that he said has been "built up way beyond proportion."

"Those files were run by the worst scum on Earth," Trump said in answer to a reporter's question.

"They were run by Comey, they were run by Garland, they were run by Biden, and all of the people that actually ran the government, including the auto-pen," Trump said, referring to former FBI director James Comey, whom he fired during his first term, former Attorney General Merrick Garland, and former President Joe Biden.

"Those files were run for four years by those people," Trump continued. "If they had anything, I assume they would have released it. The whole thing is a hoax. They ran the files. I was running against somebody that ran the files, if they had something, they would have released it. Now they can easily put something in the files that’s a phony," he said.

Responding to a question about recent Wall Street Journal report that said Trump drew a photo of a naked woman in a birthday book for Epstein, Trump said, "I don't do drawings. I'm not a drawing person. I don't do drawings. Sometimes people say, 'Would you draw a building?' And I'll draw four lines and a little roof, you know, for charity stuff, but I'm not a drawing person. I don't do drawings of women — that I can tell you."

Speaking to reporters back in Ohio, about Epstein, Vance said that Trump wants "full transparency" in into Jeffrey Epstein and he criticized past administrations for their handling of the case.

"You ought to go after the administrations that went easy on Jeffrey Epstein, the administrations that concealed this case for 20 years and the administrations that failed to show full transparency," he said. "Donald J Trump, I’m telling you, he’s got nothing to hide, his administration has got nothing to hide, and that’s why he’s been an advocate for full transparency in this case."

Trump Slams London Mayor Sadiq Khan

During his remarks to reporters in Scotland, Monday, Trump also slammed London Mayor Sadiq Khan, calling him a "nasty person" and stating that he has "done a terrible job."

PM Starmer, who was seated beside Trump, intervened to defend Khan, saying, "He's a friend of mine, actually." Trump, however, continued to express his disapproval of Khan, reiterating his view that the mayor has performed poorly, but he also confirmed that he would visit London during his upcoming state visit to the UK in September.

Trump and Khan have had a long-standing feud, with Trump previously calling Khan a "stone cold loser" and "very dumb" Khan has also criticized Trump's policies, including his travel ban on people from certain Muslim countries.

After their meeting in Turnberry, Starmer flew with Trump aboard Marine One to outside Aberdeen, where the Trump Organization has a second golf course. The President is on a 4-day trip to Scotland, where he announced a trade deal with European Union President Ursula Von Der Leyen.

Trump's TikTok Executive Order Secures US Control, As Netanyahu Rallies Influencers To Push Pro-Israel Propaganda On Social Media

President Donald Trump signed an executive order this week, approving a long-awaited divestiture deal for TikTok's U.S. operations, effectively handing majority control to an American business consortium while averting a nationwide ban on the app. This move fulfills a 2024 law signed by former President Joe Biden (the Protecting Americans from Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act) that required ByteDance, TikTok's Chinese parent company, to sell its U.S. assets or face prohibition due to fears of data access by the Chinese government.

A new U.S.-based joint venture will operate TikTok's American app, with majority ownership (roughly 80%) held by U.S. investors. ByteDance retains a minority stake of less than 20% and seats only one director on a seven-member board dominated by Americans with national security expertise. Leading investors include Oracle (as the primary security provider), private equity firm Silver Lake, and the Abu Dhabi-backed MGX investment fund, which together control about 45% of the venture.

The transaction values the U.S. operations at approximately $14 billion, though broader projections estimate it will generate $178 billion in U.S. economic activity over the next four years, sustaining thousands of jobs in content creation, advertising, and tech.

The order extends the enforcement deadline by 120 days (until mid-January 2026), giving time to finalize agreements and implement the transfer. The Department of Justice is barred from enforcing the ban during this period.

All U.S. user data will be stored exclusively in a secure Oracle-managed cloud in the U.S., with no access for ByteDance. The app's algorithm, code, and content moderation will be controlled by the new entity, subject to ongoing monitoring by U.S. cybersecurity experts to prevent foreign manipulation. ByteDance is barred from the security committee and any influence over sensitive data flows.

The White House framed the order as a balanced win: preserving TikTok's 170 million U.S. users and its role in free expression while eliminating China-linked risks. Critics, including some tech experts, have called the government's role in structuring the deal a "shakedown," pointing to multibillion-dollar fees collected from investors as unusually aggressive. However supporters commend Trump for looking out for the interest of American taxpayers.

Netanyahu Rallies Influencers To Push Pro-Israel Propaganda: 'Woke Reich'

Meanwhile in a striking parallel—occurring just as Trump's order was inked—Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held a closed-door meeting on Friday, in New York, with a group of American social media influencers and content creators, explicitly tasking them with bolstering right-wing support for Israel through online narratives.

The session followed Netanyahu's address to the United Nations General Assembly, where he defended Israel's actions in Gaza amid global criticism, including an International Criminal Court arrest warrant for war crimes.

During the discussion, Netanyahu emphasized social media as Israel's "most important weapons" in the information war, evolving from traditional tools like tanks to digital platforms. He singled out TikTok as the "most important" current battleground, telling attendees: "The most important purchase that is going on right now is TikTok... I hope it goes through because it can be consequential." He also praised X (formerly Twitter) as crucial, describing owner Elon Musk as "not an enemy, he's a friend—we should talk to him."

The prime minister urged the creators to counter anti-Israel sentiment, particularly among conservatives, whose support has eroded since Israel's October 2023 invasion of Gaza, with polls showing a 20-point drop in favorable views among young Republicans. He referred derogatorily to these critics as 'woke reich' in reference to the Third Reich (official Nazi party designation for the regime in Germany from January 1933 to May 1945, as the presumed successor of the medieval and early modern Holy Roman Empire of 800 to 1806 (the First Reich) and the German Empire of 1871 to 1918 (the Second Reich).

The meeting highlights Israel's aggressive public diplomacy push, including paid influencer tours and ad campaigns in New York spotlighting October 7, 2023, Hamas atrocities. Notably, Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison—a key TikTok buyer and longtime Netanyahu ally—has donated millions to pro-Israel causes, adding a layer of geopolitical intrigue to the timing.

These developments unfold against a backdrop of deepening divisions in U.S. conservative circles over Israel. The recent assassination of prominent right-wing influencer Charlie Kirk on September 10, in Utah—where a 22-year-old suspect faces the death penalty—has amplified tensions.

Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA, was once a vocal Israel supporter but had grown critical of Netanyahu's leadership in the weeks before his death, reportedly rejecting donor pressure to not platform popular voices like Tucker Carlson and Candace Owens who are critical of Israeli influence on American foreign policy and Israel's genocidal war against Palestinians.

Netanyahu's influencer outreach appears aimed at reclaiming this ground, using platforms like TikTok—where pro-Palestinian content has surged—to reshape perceptions. As one attendee noted, the prime minister stressed that "propagandizing Americans with pro-Israel messaging" is now essential amid potential U.S. sanctions and waning MAGA solidarity. Trump is set to host Netanyahu at the White House on September 29.

Keir Starmer Facing Backlash Over Mandatory UK Digital ID Plan

Prime Minister Keir Starmer has announced a new mandatory digital ID scheme, stating unequivocally that "You will not be able to work in the United Kingdom if you do not have digital ID." The plan, unveiled at the Global Progress Action Summit in London, supposedly aims to tackle illegal immigration and strengthen border control by requiring all individuals to possess a digital ID on their smartphone to prove their right to work or rent a home.

The government asserts the scheme will make it harder to work illegally, close loopholes exploited by trafficking gangs and unscrupulous employers, and offer citizens benefits like easier access to services such as driving licenses and welfare.

The digital ID will be a free, government-issued app on smartphones, containing a name, date of birth, nationality or residency status, and a photo  It will be mandatory for proving the right to work or rent, but individuals will not be required to carry or present it on demand outside of these specific checks. The government plans to introduce the scheme by the end of the current parliamentary term.

This marks a significant policy shift for the Labor government, which previously ruled out the idea, with former Home Secretary Yvette Cooper stating it was not in their manifesto. Starmer admitted Labor had previously "shied away" from addressing public concerns about illegal immigration, acknowledging it was "too easy for people to come here, slip into the shadow economy and remain here illegally."  The move is driven by record levels of small boat crossings and the government's desire to demonstrate control over borders.

The announcement has sparked significant debate. Critics, including civil liberty groups like Big Brother Watch and Liberty, argue the scheme amounts to "mass surveillance" and a "checkpoint society" that threatens privacy and civil liberties. They warn it could marginalize vulnerable groups like the elderly or homeless who may not have smartphones.

The opposition parties are also critical: Reform UK calls it a "cynical ploy," the Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch dismissed it as a "desperate gimmick" that won't stop small boat crossings, and the Liberal Democrats oppose forcing people to surrender private data. A petition against the digital ID has already surpassed one million signatures, triggering a parliamentary debate.

While the government insists the ID will only be required to prove the right to work and will not be mandatory to carry or produce in other circumstances, confusion persists. Scottish Secretary Douglas Alexander emphasized it is not a physical "BritCard" but a digital tool. Critics remain skeptical, with some arguing that illegal workers will find ways to circumvent the system, and others questioning the effectiveness of the measure against the root causes of migration.

The government maintains the ID is a practical measure to simplify life for citizens by replacing the need to hunt for physical documents like utility bills or passports.

Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy clarified that while all UK citizens will be required to have the digital ID, it will be their choice whether to use it for everyday purposes. The government is also consulting on how to support those without smartphones.

Trump Signs Executive Order Targeting Left-wing Extremism, ANTIFA

US President Donald Trump signed an executive order on Thursday, directing federal agencies to dismantle left-wing groups he claims are inciting political violence, including the decentralized movement known as Antifa, which he had previously designated a domestic terrorist organization on September 22.

The order empowers agencies like the Justice Department, Treasury Department, FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force, and the IRS to investigate and disrupt funding networks for these groups, with Attorney General Pam Bondi stating it targets "any organized group, anywhere who are committing these crimes." Trump specifically named billionaire Democrat donors George Soros and Reid Hoffman as individuals whose funding might be under scrutiny, though no evidence was provided to support these allegations.

Trump has signed an order officially designating Antifa as a "domestic terrorist organization," directing all federal agencies to investigate, disrupt, and dismantle its illegal operations and those of its supporters. Far-left group Antifa's operation is known as a far-left semi-decentralized Marxist group that incites, organizes and participates in sometimes deadly riots across most cities in America, Europe, Canada and Australia.

The new executive order focuses on identifying and disrupting the financial networks that fund these groups. It directs the Treasury Department and the IRS to investigate potential funding sources and even to withdraw tax-exempt status from organizations found to be funding political violence.

The Trump administration has cited the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk two weeks prior and a shooting at an ICE office in Dallas as catalysts for the crackdown, though authorities have not found evidence linking the suspects to a larger network

The order is part of a broader campaign by Trump to use federal agencies to target left-wing violent extremism. This includes a previous order to investigate.

Left-wing critics, including civil rights groups and Democrats, argue the actions are politically motivated, designed to stifle dissent and undermine the First Amendment, and are a response to the killing of a conservative figure rather than a genuine threat from the left.

The administration has pointed to recent left-wing violence and criminality like the bullets found at the scene of Kirk's assassination, which were engraved with fascist far-left messages, as evidence of the growing threat from the left.
