Trump Furious With Israel Over Ceasefire Violations; Truce With Iran Back On, Following Tense Call With Netanyahu, Mossad
June 24, 2025
post photo preview

US President Donald Trump expressed frustration with both Israel and Iran for violating a ceasefire agreement shortly after it was announced. Speaking to reporters Tuesday, a furious Trump said that Israel launched a significant number of bombs on Iran immediately after the deal was made, calling it an overreaction, saying that he was “not happy” with either country.

The ceasefire initially required Iran to halt strikes on Israel by midnight ET on June 24, with Israel stopping strikes on Iran 12 hours later, and the war considered over by midnight ET on June 25.

Hours before the ceasefire took effect, Israel conducted intense airstrikes on Iranian targets, including the Evin Prison and missile production facilities. Iran launched a missile barrage, with one missile striking a residential building in Beersheba, Israel, killing at least four people and injuring others.

Israel reported additional Iranian missiles fired after the ceasefire began, at 7:06 a.m. and 10:25 a.m. local time, though these were intercepted or landed in open areas without casualties.

Israel accused Iran of violating the ceasefire and retaliated by striking an Iranian radar site near Tehran hours after the truce began. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office stated the strike was a response to Iran’s missile launches, but Israel refrained from further attacks following a call with Trump.

Trump reportedly chastized Netanyahu in a tense phone call following the ceasefire violation by Israel. And Central Intelligence Agency(CIA) Director John Ratcliffe also reportedly warned Mossad Chief David Barnea that further escalation could risk U.S. intelligence sharing with Israel. Defense Minister Israel Katz later assured U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth that the Jewish nation would hold fire as long as Iran respects the ceasefire agreement.

Trump emphasized his desire to maintain the ceasefire, posting on Truth Social, “ISRAEL. DO NOT DROP THOSE BOMBS. IF YOU DO IT IS A MAJOR VIOLATION. BRING YOUR PILOTS HOME, NOW!”

Katz had initially ordered a forceful response targeting regime sites in Tehran, but Trump’s intervention led to a scaled-back operation.

Speaking to reporters, Trump criticized Israel for launching what he described as "the biggest load of bombs I’ve ever seen" just hours after the ceasefire deal was announced, accusing the country of not following the agreement. He emphasized that the ceasefire was meant to de-escalate tensions, not allow for a final barrage of attacks.

The President said Israel and Iran “don’t know what the fuck they’re doing” and that he was “not happy” with either.

Despite the initial breaches, Trump later announced the ceasefire was back in effect after speaking with Netanyahu, ending a 12-day conflict that began on June 13 with Israeli airstrikes on Iranian nuclear and military targets.

Speaking to reporters aboard Airforce One on his way to the NATO summit in The Hague, Netherlands, Trump clarified that his objective was not to push for regime change in Iran but to stop the conflict and prevent Iran from rebuilding its nuclear facilities. He had asked "why wouldn't there be a regime change" in a Truth Social post over the weekend, which drew swift backlash from his MAGA supporters wary of American entanglements with more wars for Israel in the Middle East.

Trump also announced via a post on his Truth Social platform that China can now continue to purchase oil from Iran without violating U.S. sanctions. This marks a significant shift from the previous "maximum pressure" campaign against Iran. He also expressed hope that China would increase its oil imports from the United States, linking the move to broader diplomatic and economic objectives.

UPDATE | Iranian Retaliatory Strikes Target U.S. Bases; Trump Announces Israel-Iran Ceasefire

Iran launched retaliatory missile strikes on U.S. military bases, including the Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, following the U.S. B-2 stealth bomber attacks on three Iranian nuclear facilities over the weekend.

The U.S. confirmed the attack but reported no casualties, with President Donald Trump thanking Iran for providing early notice of the strike, which allowed for preventive measures to be taken.

Qatar condemned the attack but stated that its air defenses successfully intercepted the missiles and that its airspace is now safe.

Iran's retaliation was described as "Operation True Promise 3," targeting U.S. bases in the region, including Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, which houses the Combined Air Operations Center and the 379th Air Expeditionary Wing.

The U.S. Embassy in Qatar had issued a shelter-in-place order earlier in the day, which was later lifted as the situation stabilized.

"We didn't harm anyone. Supreme leader Ali Khamenei wrote on X. "And we will not accept any harassment from anyone under any circumstances. And we will not submit to anyone's harassment; This is the logic of the Iranian nation."

President Trump called the Iranian response a "very weak response" that was "very effectively countered" and praised the preventive efforts, noting that 14 missiles were fired but caused no harm to Americans or Qataris. He also indicated that he would urge Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to end the conflict.

He wrote on Truth Social, "Iran has officially responded to our Obliteration of their Nuclear Facilities with a very weak response, which we expected, and have very effectively countered. There have been 14 missiles fired — 13 were knocked down, and 1 was “set free,” because it was headed in a nonthreatening direction.

"I am pleased to report that NO Americans were harmed, and hardly any damage was done. Most importantly, they’ve gotten it all out of their “system,” and there will, hopefully, be no further HATE. I want to thank Iran for giving us early notice, which made it possible for no lives to be lost, and nobody to be injured.

"Perhaps Iran can now proceed to Peace and Harmony in the Region, and I will enthusiastically encourage Israel to do the same. Thank you for your attention to this matter!

"I’d like to thank the Highly Respected Emir of Qatar for all that he has done in seeking Peace for the Region. Regarding the attack today at the American Base in Qatar, I am pleased to report that, in addition to no Americans being killed or wounded, very importantly, there have also been no Qataris killed or wounded. Thank you for your attention to this matter!

"CONGRATULATIONS WORLD, IT’S TIME FOR PEACE!"

In response to the U.S. strikes Sunday, Iran warned of further consequences and vowed to act against U.S. interests in the Middle East, with General Abdolrahim Mousavi stating that the strikes had given Iranian forces a "free hand" to act. Meanwhile, Trump suggested the possibility of regime change in Iran if the current leadership could not "Make Iran Great Again," though White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt described the remark as "simply raising a question."

The U.S. military has increased troop protection in Iraq and Syria, and the Pentagon has repositioned aircraft and ships from vulnerable bases, including Al Udeid Air Base.

Despite the heightened tensions, Trump expressed hope that Iran would now proceed toward peace, calling for an end to the cycle of aggression.

Trump later announced that a Israel-Iran ceasefire deal has been reached.

The president wrote, "CONGRATULATIONS TO EVERYONE! It has been fully agreed by and between Israel and Iran that there will be a Complete and Total CEASEFIRE (in approximately 6 hours from now, when Israel and Iran have wound down and completed their in progress, final missions!), for 12 hours, at which point the War will be considered, ENDED! Officially, Iran will start the CEASEFIRE and, upon the 12th Hour, Israel will start the CEASEFIRE and, upon the 24th Hour, an Official END to THE 12 DAY WAR will be saluted by the World. During each CEASEFIRE, the other side will remain PEACEFUL and RESPECTFUL.

"On the assumption that everything works as it should, which it will, I would like to congratulate both Countries, Israel and Iran, on having the Stamina, Courage, and Intelligence to end, what should be called, “THE 12 DAY WAR.” This is a War that could have gone on for years, and destroyed the entire Middle East, but it didn’t, and never will! God bless Israel, God bless Iran, God bless the Middle East, God bless the United States of America, and GOD BLESS THE WORLD!"

Trump reportedly spoke with Qatar’s Emir Tamim bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani and informed him the U.S. got Israel to agree to a ceasefire with Iran. The President asked Qatar to help persuade Iran to do the same. Vice President JD Vance coordinated with Qatar’s Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani on the details. This effort proved successful, and following discussions with the Qatari PM, the Iranians agreed.

"As Iran has repeatedly made clear: Israel launched war on Iran, not the other way around," Iran's Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Aragchi wrote on X"As of now, there is NO 'agreement' on any ceasefire or cessation of military operations. However, provided that the Israeli regime stops its illegal aggression against the Iranian people no later than 4 am Tehran time, we have no intention to continue our response afterwards. The final decision on the cessation of our military operations will be made later."

Araghchi later wrote: "The military operations of our powerful Armed Forces to punish Israel for its aggression continued until the very last minute, at 4am. Together with all Iranians, I thank our brave Armed Forces who remain ready to defend our dear country until their last drop of blood, and who responded to any attack by the enemy until the very last minute."

Monday's developments come as Trump faces opposition from MAGA supporters against further military entanglement in the middle east.

Conservative firebrand and U.S Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene who has been vocally opp[osed to American involvement in Israel's war against Iran, wrote on X, "I spent millions of my own money and TRAVELED THE ENTIRE COUNTRY campaigning for President Trump and his MAGA agenda and his promises.

"And Trump’s MAGA agenda included these key promises: NO MORE FOREIGN WARS. NO MORE REGIME CHANGE. WORLD PEACE.

"And THIS is what the people voted for. Only 6 months in and we are back into foreign wars, regime change, and world war 3.

"It feels like a complete bait and switch to please the neocons, warmongers, military industrial complex contracts, and neocon tv personalities that MAGA hates and who were NEVER TRUMPERS!

"After the bombs were dropped, we were told 'complete success and Iran’s nuclear capabilities were totally wiped out.' Then it quickly turned to Iran’s nuclear facilities 'partially damaged' and now it’s we don’t know where their enriched uranium is.

"Let me be very clear. My children are 22, 25, and 27. I will literally fight ANYONE for their future. And their future and their entire generation’s future MUST be free of America LAST foreign wars that provoke terrorists attacks on our homeland, military drafts, and NUCLEAR WAR.

"I am FIGHTING for them to have a future where they can afford to buy a home, afford insurance, invest for retirement, enjoy life, retain their God given freedoms, afford to raise a family under their Christian faith, not be in debt, safety and security, AND NOT HAVE OUR OWN TAX PAYER FUNDED GOVERNMENT DESTROY IT ALL.

"Contrary to brainwashed Democrat boomers think and protest about, Trump is not a king, MAGA is not a cult, and I can and DO have my own opinion."

Meanwhile Israel continued its heavy bombardment of Iran and some part of Iraq, early morning UTC, Tuesday, with assassination strikes reportedly targeting senior Iranian leaders.

And later Iran retaliated with over 8 ballistic missiles launched towards Israel, with explosions heard in parts of Israel. A missle hit a residential building in Be'er Sheva, killing over 3 people and injuring others.

Meanwhile, in a newly released audio recording dated June 13, Israeli operatives can be heard reportedly threatening to kill the families of Iranian officials. “We will hit you, your family, your children, everyone, with the dirt.”

Mossad reportedly contacted IRGC commanders, warning them to resign from the Islamic Republic within 12 hours or be killed—urging them to record videos saying things like: “We won’t sacrifice our lives for those who ruined our country for 46 years.”

UPDATE | 75 Bombs, 125 Aircraft Used In U.S. Strikes On Iran: Operation Midnight Hammer

General Dan Caine and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth provided detailed accounts of Operation Midnight Hammer, a U.S. military operation targeting Iran's nuclear infrastructure.

The operation, ordered by President Donald Trump, involved 125 U.S. aircraft, including seven B-2 bombers, and the deployment of approximately 75 precision-guided munitions, including the first operational use of the 30,000-pound GBU-57 Massive Ordnance Penetrator (MOP) bombs. These bombs were specifically designed to destroy deeply buried targets like the Fordow nuclear facility.

The strikes were conducted with a high level of secrecy and operational security, employing decoys and deception tactics to maintain tactical surprise, Gen. Caine said.

The operation was executed by US Central Command under the command of General Erik Kurilla, targeting three Iranian nuclear sites: Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan. Initial assessments indicated that all three sites sustained extremely severe damage and destruction. The mission was described as a "highly classified mission" with very few people in Washington knowing the details of the plan.

Caine explained that the Tomahawks were fired from a US Navy submarine almost an hour and forty minutes before the first B2 dropped its GBU57 on Fordow, but the TLAMS targeting Isfahan were timed to impact after the B2 mission complete so as not to alert Iranian defenses. Timed to precision from air and by sea.

"At approximately 5 p.m. Eastern Standard Time last night and just prior to the strike package entering Iran, a U.S. submarine in the Central Command area of responsibility launched more than two dozen Tomahawk land attack cruise missiles against key surface infrastructure targets as often as the Operation Midnight Hammer strike package entered Iranian airspace," Caine said.

"We are currently unaware of any shots fired at the U.S. strike package on the way in. At approximately 6:40 p.m. Eastern Standard Time, 2:10 a.m. Iran time, the lead B-2 dropped two GBU 57 Massive Ordnance Penetrator weapons on the first of several Aim points at Fordow as the president stated last night. The remaining bombers then hit their targets as well, with a total of 14 Mops dropped against two nuclear target areas. All three Iranian nuclear infrastructure targets were struck between 6:40 p.m. and 7:05 p.m. Eastern Time.

"Again, that's about 2:10 in the morning local time in Iran with the Tomahawk missiles being the last to strike at Isfahan to ensure we retain the element of surprise throughout the operation."

The operation's success was attributed to the coordination and capabilities of the U.S. joint forces, involving multiple domains and theatres, including air, sea, cyber, and space. The mission required months of preparation and involved new-but-proven technologies to maintain undersea dominance and operational security. Despite the initial success, the long-term impact on Iran's nuclear capabilities remains to be fully assessed.

Trump reportedly informed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu about his intention to pursue a nuclear deal with Iran following the Operation Midnight Hammer.

Iran condemned the attacks, calling them a violation of international law and vowed to continue its nuclear program. Iranian officials have threatened to retaliate against U.S. troops in the region, and the U.S. has elevated force protection measures at bases across the region, including in Iraq, Syria, and the Gulf. Additionally, Iranian parliament passe a law apporoving the potential closure of the Strait of Hormuz, which could have significant implications for global oil and natural gas prices.

"The United States, a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, has committed a grave violation of the UN Charter, international law and the NPT by attacking Iran's peaceful nuclear installations," Iran's Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi wrote on X. "The events this morning are outrageous and will have everlasting consequences. Each and every member of the UN must be alarmed over this extremely dangerous, lawless and criminal behavior. In accordance with the UN Charter and its provisions allowing a legitimate response in self-defense, Iran reserves all options to defend its sovereignty, interest, and people."

The Israeli military, in an initial analysis, reportedly believes that the Fordow nuclear facility has sustained serious damage from the U.S. strike but has not been completely destroyed. According to reports, Israeli officials noted that Iran appeared to have moved equipment, including uranium, away from the site prior to the attack.

Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio defended the U.S. strikes on Iranian nuclear sites during their appearances on Sunday shows, while Republican Congressman Thomas Massie criticized the action as unconstitutional.

Vance described the operation as a precise and successful military effort aimed at halting Iran's nuclear program, emphasizing that the U.S. is "not at war with Iran" but rather targeting its nuclear capabilities.

The vice president who appeared on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” also stressed the administration’s interest in pursuing a diplomatic resolution, saying that President Trump wants to engage in a diplomatic process. He further argued that retaliation from Iran would be a “catastrophic mistake” and emphasized the need for peace.

Rubio echoed the same sentiment, warning that if Iran continues its pursuit of nuclear weapons, it could lead to the end of the regime.

The secretary of state who appeared on CBS’s “Face the Nation” and Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures,” where he took a more hardline stance, warning that Iran’s continued nuclear ambitions could lead to the downfall of the regime. He framed the strikes as a strong message to Tehran and emphasized the U.S.’s commitment to preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.

Republican Congressman Thomas Massie voiced strong opposition to the strikes, calling them unconstitutional and accusing President Trump of misleading his base.

Massie argued that the decision to strike Iran should have required congressional approval and warned that the action could lead to broader conflict. The Congressman also indicated he would seek ways to force a vote on a War Powers resolution to limit presidential authority in future military actions.

UPDATE | U.S. Airstrikes Target Iran's Fordow, Natanz, Isfahan Nuclear Facilities

President Donald Trump announced that the United States Air Force(USAF) successfully struck the Fordow nuclear site in Iran, along with Natanz and Isfahan, in a military operation that marks a significant escalation in the conflict between the Israel and Iran.

"We have completed our very successful attack on the three Nuclear sites in Iran, including Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan," Trump wrote on Truth Social Sunday, UTC. "All planes are now outside of Iran air space. A full payload of BOMBS was dropped on the primary site, Fordow. All planes are safely on their way home. Congratulations to our great American Warriors. There is not another military in the World that could have done this. NOW IS THE TIME FOR PEACE! Thank you for your attention to this matter."

Speaking to Americans in a televised address, Trump warned that if Iran does not accept peace, the U.S will strike other targets in the country.

"ANY RETALIATION BY IRAN AGAINST THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA WILL BE MET WITH FORCE FAR GREATER THAN WHAT WAS WITNESSED TONIGHT. THANK YOU! DONALD J. TRUMP, PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES," the President later warned on Truth Social.

The Fordow facility, located deep underground and heavily fortified, was targeted by B-2 stealth bombers carrying "bunker buster" bombs. Iranian state media confirmed the attack on Fordow, though the extent of the damage remains unclear.

USAF B-2 Spirit stealth bombers reportedly dropped six 30k pound GBU-57 Massive Ordnance Penetrators (MOPs) on the Fordow nuclear enrichment facility.

A heavily fortified underground facility located near Qom, Iran, Fordow is designed to withstand conventional air strikes. It has been a focal point of international concern due to its potential role in Iran's nuclear program.

Fordow is considered one of Iran's most critical nuclear sites, with experts suggesting it may be involved in clandestine efforts to develop nuclear weapons. The site contains advanced centrifuges and has been a target of Israeli and U.S. military interest.

UPDATE | Israeli, Iranian Airstrike Exchanges Target Iran's Arak Nuclear Reactor, IDF Intelligence Facilities Near Soroka Medical Center

lsrael conducted airstrikes targeting Iran’s Arak heavy water reactor and other strategic locations in Iran, escalating the ongoing conflict. In response, Iran launched missile attacks, with one striking the Soroka Medical Center in southern Israel, which Iran says was intended to target nearby IDF intelligence facilities.

Israeli Airforce targeted the Arak facility, which has been a focal point of concern due to its potential to produce plutonium, a byproduct that could be used in nuclear weapons. Iranian state television reported that the facility had been evacuated before the attack and there was "no radiation danger whatsoever."

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) confirmed that the reactor was not operational and contained no nuclear material, so no radiological effects were anticipated

Israeli airstrikes also targeted Tehran and other areas in Iran, including military and nuclear-related facilities. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) claimed to have struck over 170 targets in three days, aiming to cripple Iran’s nuclear program and military infrastructure

Iran launched a retaliatory ballistic missile that struck the Soroka Medical Center in Beersheba, Israel, causing extensive damage and injuring dozens. Iran’s Revolutionary Guard(IRGC) said the intended target was an Israeli military and intelligence headquarters near the hospital, not the medical facility itself.

The target was reportedly the Israeli army’s central command and intelligence base (IDF C4I) and a military intelligence camp located in the Gav-Yam technology park, adjacent to Soroka Hospital in Be’er Sheva.

Thousands of Israeli soldiers are based in that location, which also houses critical systems such as digital command infrastructure, cyber operations, and C4ISR systems.

Iran reportedly used missles with multiple warheads in the latest attck which can disrupt Israeli defense systems. According to senior Iranian Official Mohsen Rezaee, "In just the past 48 hours, you saw that we employed a new tactic, a combination of Fattah and Sejjil missiles and when these are used together, they truly create serious disruption in the enemy’s defense systems."

The Iranian warhead split into some 20 smaller munitions at an altitude of 7 kilometers, creating a larger blast radius on the ground of some 8 kilometers, according to the IDF.

Israel condemned the attack as a war crime, with Defense Minister Israel Katz vowing to hold Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei accountable.

However critics point out that the IDF has attacked and destroyed over 36 medical facilities in Gaza since its devastating war with Hamas started, killing women and children.

Iranian missiles also hit a high-rise apartment building in Tel Aviv and other sites in Israel. At least 147 people were injured, with six in serious condition, according to Israeli officials. A total of 271 people were reportedly wounded in the Iranian missile attacks, with 71 sustaining minor injuries at the hospital site.

As the debate rages in the U.S. over American involvement in the war, President Trump is facing backlash from his MAGA supporters who oppose any direct U.S. military action against Iran. It's a reckless war initiated by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyah, they argue, and the Jewish state must finish what it started.

"Based on the fact that there is a substantial chance of negotiations that may or may not take place with Iran in the future, I will make my decision whether or not to go within the next two weeks,” Trump said in statement read to reporters at the White House Thursday, by Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt.

Trump reprtedly wants to strike Iran only if U.S. can destroy the Fordow enrichment facility with bunker-busting bombs. The facility is embedded inside a mountain and highly fortified.

The 30-ton Massive Ordnance Penetrator, GBU-57A/B is capable of penetrating hundreds of meters of fortified underground facilities.

“To destroy Fordow, it would take at least two bombs hitting exactly the same point,” said American military analyst Robert Pape. "It is technically possible (to take it out), and the US Air Force is capable of doing it. But in real combat conditions, it has never happened."

The Pentagon concluded earlier this year the bunker-busting bombs don’t go deep enough, and totally destroying Fordow may require a tactical nuclear weapon.

Meanwhile on the negotiations front, U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff has reportedly been in regular contact with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.

UPDATE | Israeli Missile Strikes Target A Live TV Building, As Israel, Trump Warn Civilians In Tehran To 'Immediately Evacuate'

As the war enters the fifth day, Israeli airstrikes have hit Iran's state broadcaster during a live news broadcast, marking a significant escalation in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran.

The Israeli Air Force has targeted multiple military and nuclear infrastructure sites in Iran, including facilities in Tehran, Isfahan, and Fordow, while Iran has retaliated with missile strikes against Israeli cities such as Tel Aviv and Haifa, killing at least eight people and injuring dozens more.

President Donald Trump, speaking from the G7 summit in Canada, urged Iran to come to the negotiation table, stating that a deal is possible but emphasizing that Iran must act quickly before the situation worsens.

The Israeli airstrike Monday, hit the headquarters of Iran’s state broadcaster (IRIB/IRINN) during a live broadcast, plunging the set into darkness and setting parts of the building on fire. The anchorwoman Sahar Emami was heard describing the sounds of bombing before the explosion hit the studio.

Israel confirmed that its strikes targeted key nuclear and military facilities, including Natanz, Isfahan, and Fordow, aiming to set back Iran’s nuclear program by what Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described as “a very long time.” The Israeli military also issued evacuation warnings for areas near weapons production facilities in Tehran.

An Iranian missile strike hit an oil refinery in Haifa Bay, killing three employees and causing significant damage. The refinery was shut down following the attack. Missiles and drones struck Tel Aviv and Haifa early Monday, killing at least eight people and injuring nearly 100. A school in Bnei Brak was also hit, prompting emergency responses.

Iran reported at least 224 deaths and over 1,200 injuries, while Israel reported between 18 and 24 deaths and over 390 injuries. Both sides have issued evacuation orders for civilian areas near military targets.

President Trump urged Iran to negotiate, stating that a deal is likely but warning that “Iran is foolish not to sign.” In a Truth Social post, he also advised all civilians in Tehran to “immediately evacuate,” triggering panic online and in Iran.

Many critics including prominent MAGA supporters of the president on social media slammed him for the recklessly threatening and insensitive post.

Thousands of Tehran residents fled the capital overnight, with roads leading north to the Caspian Sea jammed with evacuees. Fuel rationing and ATM withdrawal limits were reported as panic spread.

Russia, China and some other countries have advised their citizens to leave Israel.

The U.S. has moved an aircraft carrier and additional military assets to the Middle East in response to the conflict. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth confirmed the deployment of more defensive capabilities to the region, though specific details were not disclosed.

Trump's handling of the conflict has divided opinion within the MAGA movement, with majority of his supporters adamantly opposed to U.S. involvement in the war especially given that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu initiated the war while the U.S. was conducting negotiations with Iran.

An Israeli Cabinet member Gila Gamliel on Monday arrogantly said: “We categorically demand that the United States join the war against Iran." Netanyahu told US TV

The Trump administration has denied direct involvement in Israel’s strikes but provided limited support after the president was reportedly convinced of the threat posed by Iran’s nuclear program.

The U.S. has reportedly proposed nuclear and ceasefire talks this week, to the Iranians.

UPDATE | Israel, Iran Exchange Missile, Drone Barrage As War Between Both Nations Intensifies

Iran launched a large-scale retaliatory barrage of ballistic missiles late Saturday and into early Sunday, targeting Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Haifa, and other parts of central Israel, striking residential buildings and infrastructure. This follows Israeli Air Force (IAF) strikes on Iranian targets, including nuclear facilities, military installations, and an oil refinery in the South Pars gas field.

Iran fired approximately 200 ballistic missiles in multiple waves, with some penetrating Israel’s Iron Dome air defense system and hitting densely populated areas such as Tel Aviv, Rishon Lezion, and Ramat Gan.

At least three people were killed and over 200 injured in the attacks, with significant damage reported to residential buildings and public infrastructure. Sirens were heard across northern and central Israel, including in Haifa, prompting civilians to seek shelter as defensive systems attempted to intercept incoming missiles.

Videos online showed explosions and fires in Tel Aviv, with air raid sirens forcing residents into shelters. At least one residential building in Ramat Gan was heavily damaged, with reports of burned-out cars and structural destruction. Missile also reportedly hit Weizmann Institute of Science, a major Israeli research center in Rehovot.

Missiles were intercepted over Jerusalem, with explosions lighting up the sky. No direct hits were reported in Jerusalem, but sirens disrupted normal life.

Iranian missiles reportedly struck an oil refinery in the Haifa Bay area, causing structural damage and fires, though no immediate casualties were confirmed at the refinery. Air raid sirens were also reported in the northern city.

Strikes also hit residential areas in central Israel, with one missile impact site stretching half a block in a city near Tel Aviv (exact location withheld by Israeli military).

Israeli officials confirmed that the IAF conducted extensive strikes on Iranian targets, including the Khondab heavy water reactor, and an oil refinery in Iran’s South Pars gas field, marking the first known Israeli strike on Iran’s oil and gas industry.

IAF strike also targeted the command headquarters of Iran’s Ministry of Defense and the SPND building, according to IRGC's Tasnim. Iran’s Organization of Defensive Innovation and Research (SPND) is the direct successor organization to Iran’s pre-2004 nuclear weapons program, also referred to as the Amad Project, according to the US State Department.

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei vowed a “severe punishment” for Israel’s actions, while Israel’s Defense Minister Israel Katz warned that “Tehran will burn” if Iran continues missile attacks on Israeli civilians.

Israel has reportedly asked the U.S. to join the war against Iran, as Israeli citizens panic over the unprecedented damage to the homeland inflicted by Iranian missile and drone barrage.

Some citizens told local far-left Haaretz newspaper that only intervention by the U..S. will save them from the catastrophe caused by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's reckless decision to order air strikes on Iran Friday.

However the potential U.S. involvement in the war is very unpopular among President Trump's MAGA supporters, with many prominent American conservative commentators and influencers openly calling out the president for being "complicit" in the war, after his "no new wars" promise to voters during last year's presidential campaign.

Russian President Vladimir Putin reportedly offered to mediate between Israel and Iran, following calls with both leaders.

==================

Israeli air strikes and ground intelligence operations targeted key nuclear and military sites across Iran Friday, including the nuclear facilities in Natanz, Isfahan, and Fordow near Qom, in an operation dubbed "Rising Lion." The strikes began around 0000 UTC, with explosions reported in Tehran, Isfahan, Tabriz, Shiraz, and Kermanshah.

The strikes, confirmed by the Israeli military, were aimed at disrupting Iran's nuclear infrastructure and ballistic missile capabilities. Among the casualties were several high-ranking officials, including General Gholam Ali Rashid, the deputy chief of the general staff of the armed forces, and senior nuclear scientist Fereydoun Abbasi Mohammad Bagheri, the chief of staff of Iran’s Armed Forces, was also killed in the attack.

Iranian state media reported strikes on residential neighborhoods in Tehran, including upscale areas like Qeytariyeh and Niavaran, resulting in civilian casualties, including women and children. There are reports that several Israeli aircraft including an F-35 fighter jet were shot down by Iranian air defense system.

The Israeli strikes also targeted military bases, missile depots, ballistic missile factories, and an underground command center in Tehran, where senior Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) officials were meeting.

The Natanz uranium enrichment facility, a critical component of Iran’s nuclear program, was significantly damaged. Other nuclear sites at Khondab, Khorramabad, and Arak (heavy water production) were also hit.

“In the past 24 hours, we have taken out top military commanders, senior nuclear scientists, the Islamic regime's most significant enrichment facility and a large portion of its ballistic missile arsenal," Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a video message. "More is on the way... The regime does not know what hit them, or what will hit them. It has never been weaker.”

The Israeli Air Force (IAF) launched a large-scale aerial campaign, deploying 200 fighter jets to strike over 100 targets across Iran. The operation was described as a preemptive strike to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons. The operation involved multiple waves of air strikes, supported by intelligence from the Mossad and Israeli military intelligence. Drones and weapons smuggled into Iran were used to target key personnel and infrastructure.

The Mossad — Israel's equivalent of the CIA — released footage of its operatives carrying out covert operations inside Iran ahead of Israel's historic strike. This is a rare look at the agency's activities, which are mostly secret.

According to a senior Israeli security official, the Mossad took several steps inside Iran to prepare for Israel's preemptive attack. The agency set up a secret explosive drone base inside Iran prior to the attack. Once the strikes started, the drones were activated to destroy surface-to-surface missiles that Israel said posed a threat to its civilians.

Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei warned Israel to prepare for a "bitter and painful fate." Iran also vowed to respond, accusing the US of complicity in the strikes. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated that the country would continue to enrich uranium and rebuild any damaged facilities.

Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi called the attack a “declaration of war” and accused the United States of coordinating with Israel, holding Washington responsible for the consequences.

Iran has started its retaliatory waves of drone and missile strikes against Israel Friday, hitting many targets including near Israel's Defense Ministry headquarters in Tel Aviv. Some of the drones and missiles are being intercepted by Israeli defense systems. Jordanian and Iraqi authorities have also reported intercepting drones and missiles in their airspace.

In a statement, the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corp, IRGC said: “In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

"And those who have wronged will know to what [kind of] return they will be returned.

"Following the aggression and aggressive operations launched by the terrorist oppressive Zionist regime and child killer this morning against areas in Islamic Iran, and the martyrdom of a constellation of senior commanders of the armed forces, prominent scientists, and innocent citizens, especially the oppressed children, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, as the defensive and offensive arm of the Iranian nation, relying on divine power and the wise guidance of the Supreme Leader of the Armed Forces (Supreme Defender), and in response to and with unified support from the noble Iranian people, launched its crushing and precise response against dozens of targets and military centers and air bases of the usurping Zionist regime in the occupied territories.

"Operation True Promise 3 has begun, with the slogan "O Ali ibn Abi Talib (peace be upon him)" at the beginning of the night of Eid al-Ghadir.

"The noble Iranian people will be informed of the details of this operation in a subsequent statement.”

Senior U.S. officials reportedly said that American forces are assisting Israel to shoot down Iranian missiles.

"There are hundreds of thousands of American citizens and other American assets in Israel and the U.S. is working to protect them," the official said in a statement.

There are reportedly two U.S. Navy destroyers, the USS Sullivans and USS Arleigh Burke, in the Eastern Mediterranean. Officials say that the U.S. Army assisting in shooting down incoming Iranian missiles with Patriot Pac-3 missiles and with Thaad.

The US denied involvement in the strikes, with Secretary of State Marco Rubio emphasizing that the US was not involved and urging Iran not to target American interests.

However, President Donald Trump acknowledged that the US had prior knowledge of the operation, and has reportedly reached out to the Iranian leadership to return to the negotiating table for nuclear talks which is scheduled to take place on Sunday.

Russian representative at the UN Security Council calaimed that there was “likely coordination between Israel and British special services” in the attacks on Iran. “Immediately after the Israeli strikes, they sheltered the Israeli aviation which participated in the strikes in their bases in Cyprus," the official said.

There have been reports of nuclear leaks in Iran, however the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) claimed that radiation levels at Natanz remained unchanged.

Former UK Ambassador Arrested Over Epstein Ties

Former United Kingdom ambassador to the United States, Peter Mandelson was arrested on Monday, by London’s Metropolitan Police on suspicion of misconduct in public office. He was released on bail the following day, pending further investigation.

The arrest stemmed from a criminal probe into his alleged leaking of sensitive government information to Jeffrey Epstein, the late convicted sex offender, while Mandelson served as UK Business Secretary from 2008 to 2010.

Mandelson was identified as having maintained a close relationship with Epstein, whom he once referred to as “my best pal” in a 2003 birthday book. The US Department of Justice’s release of over 3 million pages of Epstein-related documents in January 2026 revealed new evidence of their connection.

Emails from 2009 suggest Mandelson shared internal government assessments on ways to raise funds after the 2008 financial crisis, including plans to sell government assets. He also reportedly tipped Epstein about an upcoming EU bailout for Greece and confirmed plans to reduce a tax on bankers’ bonuses.

The documents show Epstein sent $75,000 in three payments to accounts linked to Mandelson or his then-partner, Reinaldo Avila da Silva. Mandelson has denied knowledge of these transfers and questioned the authenticity of the records.

A veteran Labour Party figure, Mandelson played a pivotal role in Tony Blair’s 1997 election victory and later served as European Commissioner. He was appointed UK ambassador to the US in February 2025 by Prime Minister Keir Starmer, despite knowing of his past ties to Epstein.

Mandelson was fired in September 2025** after earlier Epstein files surfaced. He resigned from the Labour Party and the House of Lords in early February 2026. Prime Minister Starmer publicly apologized for appointing him, calling the relationship a “lie” and acknowledging failures in the vetting process.

The arrest followed the recent detention of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor (former Prince Andrew) on the same charge, highlighting a widening scandal involving high-profile figures and Epstein.

The Metropolitan Police conducted search warrants at two properties—Camden (London) and Wiltshire—linked to Mandelson. His arrest was reportedly prompted by a “baseless suggestion” he was a flight risk, according to his legal team at Mishcon De Reya.

The UK government agreed to release documents related to Mandelson’s appointment as ambassador, with the first tranche expected by early March, though some will be delayed due to the ongoing police investigation.

Mandelson has denied any wrongdoing and emphasized his commitment to cooperating with authorities to clear his name. The case remains under active investigation, with implications for UK political integrity and transparency.

Cartel Leader El Mencho Killed in Mexican Military Raid, Mayhem Ensues, Trapping Tourists

Nemesio Rubén Oseguera Cervantes, known as "El Mencho," was killed in a Mexican military operation on Sunday, in the town of Tapalpa, Jalisco. The operation, carried out by Mexican special forces, targeted the leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), one of Mexico’s most powerful and fastest-growing criminal organizations. He was wounded during a shootout and died while being transported to Mexico City.

Following his death, widespread retaliatory violence erupted across Mexico, particularly in Jalisco and neighboring states. Cartel members blocked highways with burning vehicles, torched businesses, and attacked security forces. In Jalisco alone, 25 members of the National Guard were killed in six separate attacks, and at least 73 people died overall, including security personnel, cartel members, and civilians. The violence disrupted transportation, forced school closures, and led to emergency measures across the region.

In Puerto Vallarta, a major tourist destination in Jalisco, residents and visitors described scenes of chaos as plumes of smoke rose over the city.

Airports in Puerto Vallarta and Guadalajara saw flight cancellations, and taxi and rideshare services were suspended. Over 250 roadblocks were reported nationwide, with 65 in Jalisco, prompting emergency protocols and shelter-in-place advisories.

In the aftermath, Hugo César Macías Ureña, known as "El Tuli", El Mencho’s right-hand man and top financial and logistics chief, was identified as the mastermind behind the wave of retaliatory violence.

El Tuli orchestrated roadblocks, arson attacks, and assaults on government facilities across Jalisco and other states, offering a 20,000-peso ($1,160) bounty for every soldier killed. He was killed in a shootout with security forces in El Grullo, Jalisco, during a separate operation. Authorities seized over 7.2 million pesos ($965,000 in U.S. currency), weapons, and his escape vehicle.

President Claudia Sheinbaum addressed the situation on Monday, stating that while violence was concentrated in certain areas, "in the vast majority of the national territory, activities are proceeding with complete normality." She reaffirmed Mexico’s sovereignty, pledging to strengthen cooperation with the U.S. while opposing any unilateral military action by the U.S. in Mexican territory.

General Ricardo Trevilla Trejo, Mexico’s Defense Secretary, revealed at a press conference on Monday, that the location of El Mencho, was pinpointed through surveillance of a trusted associate of one of his romantic partners.

The associate escorted the woman to a compound in Tapalpa, Jalisco, on Friday, where she met El Mencho. After she left the next day, authorities confirmed he remained at the site, enabling a coordinated operation by Mexican special forces, the National Guard, and Air Force units.

White House press secretary, Karoline Leavitt confirmed that the U.S. provided intelligence support for the operation, calling it a "great development" for Mexico, the U.S., and Latin America. U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau praised the operation, describing El Mencho as "one of the bloodiest and most ruthless drug kingpins." The U.S. had offered a $15 million bounty for information leading to his capture.

Oseguera Cervantes, 59, was a former police officer who co-founded the CJNG around 2007. The cartel is a major supplier of fentanyl, methamphetamine, and cocaine to the U.S. and has pioneered violent tactics, including drone attacks and mine installations. The U.S. had offered a $15 million reward for his capture.

The U.S. designated the CJNG as a foreign terrorist organization in January 2026. The operation marked a major escalation in U.S.-Mexico counter-cartel cooperation under President Sheinbaum, with intelligence sharing significantly expanded through joint channels tied to U.S. Northern Command.

Sheinbaum was widely criticized for rejecting Trump's offer to send in American troops to permanently root out the narcoterrorists who have operated freely in Mexico through extreme violence and bribery of corrupt politicians allegedly including the preisdent herself.

Mexico has reportedly quietly shipped nearly 100 suspected cartel drug traffickers to the US to stand trial charges after President Trump branded the groups foreign terrorist organizations last year — and pressured the Mexican government to cooperate.

The suspects include the brother of Nemesio “El Mencho” Oseguera Cervantes — the brutal Jalisco New Generation cartel (CJNG) leader who was killed by the Mexican army on Sunday.

The Justice Department said many of the 92 defendants released to the Americans had US extradition requests that were not honored during the Biden administration

The Mexican government elected to round up the dozens of wanted criminals after the Trump administration made clear it was taking these matters more seriously, the DOJ said.

“This is another landmark achievement in the Trump Administration’s mission to destroy the cartels,” Bondi said of the latest round of handovers announced last month.

The alleged cartel members, “including terrorists from the Sinaloa Cartel, CJNG, and others – will now pay for their crimes against the American people on American soil,” she added.

Among the first tranche of narco-criminals flown into the US by Mexican military aircraft last February was Antonio Oseguera Cervantes, nicknamed Tony Montana after “Scarface.” He allegedly helped lead CJNG alongside “El Mencho,” and he’s charged with cocaine and meth trafficking.

In January, the US took custody of Sinaloa cartel bigwig Pedro Inzunza Noriega, who along with his son, Pedro Inzunza Coronel, led one of the largest and most sophisticated fentanyl production networks in the world.

Together they were responsible for trafficking tens of thousands of kilograms of the deadly narcotic into the US.

In total the Mexican military has transported 92 dangerous fugitives to the US in three batches starting last February. They are wanted for crimes ranging from human- and drug-trafficking to money laundering, racketeering and murder.

The cases will be prosecuted in 13 states and the District of Columbia.

Those convicted will serve out their sentences in the US before being deported to their country of origin, according to the Justice Department — though many of them are facing life sentences for their crimes.

August’s roundup included Kevin Gil Acosta and Martin Zazueta Perez, leaders of the security apparatus for the Chapitos, a powerful faction of the Sinaloa Cartel that engages in prolific fentanyl trafficking.

Both men have led sicarios armed with military-style weapons like M-16s, AK-47s, AR-15s and grenade launchers in attacks against the Mexican government and military.

Huckabee Facing Backlash Over Greater Israel Remarks In Tucker Carlson Interview

American journalist Tucker Carlson on Friday's episode of his podcast, revealed that Israeli authorities detained him and his team at Ben-Gurion Airport after his interview with U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee, alleging his executive producer was taken into an interrogation room and his passport was confiscated.

The interview took place on or around February 18, 2026, at Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv. Carlson and his team flew in (reportedly on a private jet), conducted the interview in the airport complex without ever leaving it, and departed hours later. He posted a photo on X with his business partner Neil Patel captioned “Greetings from Israel.”

Israel’s foreign ministry, denied any detention, claiming the encounter was routine security questioning applied to all travelers, including diplomats. And the U.S. Embassy emphasized that Carlson chose to remain within the airport’s VIP terminal and did not leave the premises.

Carlson called out the ambassador for going on social media and siding with Israeli authorities without asking him about what actually happened. He also revealed that the person he took a picture with was their Israeli driver who asked for it, contrary to the narratives spread on X by pro-Israel activists.

The American journalist filmed the two-and-a-half-hour interview with Huckabee published Friday, amid tensions over U.S.-Israel relations, the Israel-Gaza conflict (with a fragile truce in place), West Bank developments, and risks of U.S. escalation with Iran. Carlson, representing a populist-nationalist, skeptical-of-endless-foreign-aid wing of the right, repeatedly challenged Huckabee—a staunch Christian Zionist and longtime Israel supporter—on whether U.S. policy prioritizes Israeli interests over American ones.

The tone was testy, with pointed exchanges, exposing a clear rift in the Republican/MAGA coalition between traditional pro-Israel evangelicals and those wary of unconditional aid or Middle East entanglements.

Huckabee, a zealous evangelical Christian Zionist, said that Israel has a "Biblical right" to the entire Middle East, including areas from the Nile to the Euphrates, and said it would be "fine if they took it all." He defended Israel’s military actions in Gaza, claiming IDF operations are more humane than American's and asserting that many children killed were Hamas operatives or human shields.

Carlson, in turn, challenged these claims, expressing disbelief at justifying child deaths and questioning the moral basis of such policies. He also pressed Huckabee on the treatment of Christians in Israel, citing reports of discrimination.

The popular American journalist pressed Huckabee on biblical justifications for Israel’s claims, citing Genesis 15:18 (God’s covenant with Abraham promising land “from the river of Egypt [Nile/Wadi] to the great river, the Euphrates”). This territory would encompass modern Israel plus Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, parts of Iraq, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt.

"Does Israel have the right to that land?” (noting it would be “basically the entire Middle East”), Carlson asked.

Huckabee responded: “Not sure we’d go that far… It would be a big piece of land… It would be fine if they took it all.”

Carlson, a critic of unconditional U.S. support for Israel, has increasingly highlighted Christian persecution and Israeli overreach. Huckabee, a former governor and two-time presidential candidate, defended Israel’s sovereignty and rejected comparisons between Jewish and Palestinian national identities.

The popular journalist accused Huckabee of prioritizing Israel over the United States, especially in the context of the Gaza war. Carlson challenged Huckabee’s claim that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have a lower civilian casualty ratio than the U.S. military, calling it “very revealing” and questioning the ethics of such a comparison amid reports of over 70,000 deaths in Gaza, including many civilians.

The interview, amid a growing rift within the conservative movement and Republican Party over Israel policy. There is growing skepticism among younger Republicans toward Christian Zionism, with a 2025 survey showing 53% of Republicans under 45 oppose renewing the $38 billion U.S. military aid package to Israel.

Huckabee’s “it would be fine if they took it all” remark triggered immediate, sharp condemnation on Saturday, from multiple Arab and Muslim governments and organizations including Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and the League of Arab States. They viewed it as endorsing expansionism, violating international law, and inflaming tensions.

The League of Arab States labeled Huckabee's comments “extremist,” “provocative,” and inconsistent with U.S. foreign policy. The league called it a violation of “all the basic principles and established norms of diplomacy,” “defying logic and reason,” and an attempt to “curry favor with the right-wing public in Israel.” It inflames sentiments at a sensitive time for Gaza peace efforts.

Egypt’s foreign ministry called the remarks a “blatant violation” of international law, asserting Israel has no sovereignty over occupied Palestinian or Arab lands.

Saudi Arabia called the comments “extremist rhetoric,” “reckless,” and “irresponsible”; and urged the U.S. State Department to clarify and distance itself.

Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC, 57 nations) condemned the “dangerous and irresponsible” comments as “an unacceptable call for the expansion of Israel” based on a “false and rejected historical and ideological narrative.” It fuels extremism and encourages illegal Israeli actions like settlement and annexation.
