Republican vice presidential candidate and Donald Trump's running mate JD Vance faced off against his Democrat party opponent and Kamala Harris' running mate Tim Walz, Tuesday night in New York, in a rather collegial debate which was rich in policy discussion, covering topics like economic policy, healthcare, immigration, abortion rights, and foreign policy, particularly in response to recent events involving Iran and Israel.
Unlike the often contentious nature of political debates, Tuesday's was noted for its civility. Vance, in particular, took a less confrontational approach than might have been expected given his campaign's usual stance. However he was widely praised for his eloquence, policy knowledge, and his ability to handle aggressive questioning and interruptions from debate moderators and Walz.
Walz appeared jittery and bumbling sometimes in his responses, even referred to himself as "knucklehead," and at one point bizarrely said "I'm friends with school shooters," which prompted hilarious memes on social media, one of which was shared by Trump himself.
American voters are heading to the voting booths to elect the next president in November -- Harris or Trump.
