Iranian Retaliatory Strikes Target U.S. Bases; Trump Announces Israel-Iran Ceasefire
June 23, 2025
post photo preview

Iran launched retaliatory missile strikes on U.S. military bases, including the Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, following the U.S. B-2 stealth bomber attacks on three Iranian nuclear facilities over the weekend.

The U.S. confirmed the attack but reported no casualties, with President Donald Trump thanking Iran for providing early notice of the strike, which allowed for preventive measures to be taken.

Qatar condemned the attack but stated that its air defenses successfully intercepted the missiles and that its airspace is now safe.

Iran's retaliation was described as "Operation True Promise 3," targeting U.S. bases in the region, including Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, which houses the Combined Air Operations Center and the 379th Air Expeditionary Wing.

The U.S. Embassy in Qatar had issued a shelter-in-place order earlier in the day, which was later lifted as the situation stabilized.

"We didn't harm anyone. Supreme leader Ali Khamenei wrote on X. "And we will not accept any harassment from anyone under any circumstances. And we will not submit to anyone's harassment; This is the logic of the Iranian nation."

President Trump called the Iranian response a "very weak response" that was "very effectively countered" and praised the preventive efforts, noting that 14 missiles were fired but caused no harm to Americans or Qataris. He also indicated that he would urge Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to end the conflict.

He wrote on Truth Social, "Iran has officially responded to our Obliteration of their Nuclear Facilities with a very weak response, which we expected, and have very effectively countered. There have been 14 missiles fired — 13 were knocked down, and 1 was “set free,” because it was headed in a nonthreatening direction.

"I am pleased to report that NO Americans were harmed, and hardly any damage was done. Most importantly, they’ve gotten it all out of their “system,” and there will, hopefully, be no further HATE. I want to thank Iran for giving us early notice, which made it possible for no lives to be lost, and nobody to be injured.

"Perhaps Iran can now proceed to Peace and Harmony in the Region, and I will enthusiastically encourage Israel to do the same. Thank you for your attention to this matter!

"I’d like to thank the Highly Respected Emir of Qatar for all that he has done in seeking Peace for the Region. Regarding the attack today at the American Base in Qatar, I am pleased to report that, in addition to no Americans being killed or wounded, very importantly, there have also been no Qataris killed or wounded. Thank you for your attention to this matter!

"CONGRATULATIONS WORLD, IT’S TIME FOR PEACE!"

In response to the U.S. strikes Sunday, Iran warned of further consequences and vowed to act against U.S. interests in the Middle East, with General Abdolrahim Mousavi stating that the strikes had given Iranian forces a "free hand" to act. Meanwhile, Trump suggested the possibility of regime change in Iran if the current leadership could not "Make Iran Great Again," though White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt described the remark as "simply raising a question."

The U.S. military has increased troop protection in Iraq and Syria, and the Pentagon has repositioned aircraft and ships from vulnerable bases, including Al Udeid Air Base.

Despite the heightened tensions, Trump expressed hope that Iran would now proceed toward peace, calling for an end to the cycle of aggression.

Trump later announced that a Israel-Iran ceasefire deal has been reached.

The president wrote, "CONGRATULATIONS TO EVERYONE! It has been fully agreed by and between Israel and Iran that there will be a Complete and Total CEASEFIRE (in approximately 6 hours from now, when Israel and Iran have wound down and completed their in progress, final missions!), for 12 hours, at which point the War will be considered, ENDED! Officially, Iran will start the CEASEFIRE and, upon the 12th Hour, Israel will start the CEASEFIRE and, upon the 24th Hour, an Official END to THE 12 DAY WAR will be saluted by the World. During each CEASEFIRE, the other side will remain PEACEFUL and RESPECTFUL.

"On the assumption that everything works as it should, which it will, I would like to congratulate both Countries, Israel and Iran, on having the Stamina, Courage, and Intelligence to end, what should be called, “THE 12 DAY WAR.” This is a War that could have gone on for years, and destroyed the entire Middle East, but it didn’t, and never will! God bless Israel, God bless Iran, God bless the Middle East, God bless the United States of America, and GOD BLESS THE WORLD!"

Trump reportedly spoke with Qatar’s Emir Tamim bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani and informed him the U.S. got Israel to agree to a ceasefire with Iran. The President asked Qatar to help persuade Iran to do the same. Vice President JD Vance coordinated with Qatar’s Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani on the details. This effort proved successful, and following discussions with the Qatari PM, the Iranians agreed.

"As Iran has repeatedly made clear: Israel launched war on Iran, not the other way around," Iran's Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Aragchi wrote on X"As of now, there is NO 'agreement' on any ceasefire or cessation of military operations. However, provided that the Israeli regime stops its illegal aggression against the Iranian people no later than 4 am Tehran time, we have no intention to continue our response afterwards. The final decision on the cessation of our military operations will be made later."

Araghchi later wrote: "The military operations of our powerful Armed Forces to punish Israel for its aggression continued until the very last minute, at 4am. Together with all Iranians, I thank our brave Armed Forces who remain ready to defend our dear country until their last drop of blood, and who responded to any attack by the enemy until the very last minute."

Monday's developments come as Trump faces opposition from MAGA supporters against further military entanglement in the middle east.

Conservative firebrand and U.S Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene who has been vocally opp[osed to American involvement in Israel's war against Iran, wrote on X, "I spent millions of my own money and TRAVELED THE ENTIRE COUNTRY campaigning for President Trump and his MAGA agenda and his promises.

"And Trump’s MAGA agenda included these key promises: NO MORE FOREIGN WARS. NO MORE REGIME CHANGE. WORLD PEACE.

"And THIS is what the people voted for. Only 6 months in and we are back into foreign wars, regime change, and world war 3.

"It feels like a complete bait and switch to please the neocons, warmongers, military industrial complex contracts, and neocon tv personalities that MAGA hates and who were NEVER TRUMPERS!

"After the bombs were dropped, we were told 'complete success and Iran’s nuclear capabilities were totally wiped out.' Then it quickly turned to Iran’s nuclear facilities 'partially damaged' and now it’s we don’t know where their enriched uranium is.

"Let me be very clear. My children are 22, 25, and 27. I will literally fight ANYONE for their future. And their future and their entire generation’s future MUST be free of America LAST foreign wars that provoke terrorists attacks on our homeland, military drafts, and NUCLEAR WAR.

"I am FIGHTING for them to have a future where they can afford to buy a home, afford insurance, invest for retirement, enjoy life, retain their God given freedoms, afford to raise a family under their Christian faith, not be in debt, safety and security, AND NOT HAVE OUR OWN TAX PAYER FUNDED GOVERNMENT DESTROY IT ALL.

"Contrary to brainwashed Democrat boomers think and protest about, Trump is not a king, MAGA is not a cult, and I can and DO have my own opinion."

Meanwhile Israel continued its heavy bombardment of Iran and some part of Iraq, early morning UTC, Tuesday, with assassination strikes reportedly targeting senior Iranian leaders.

In a newly released audio recording, Israeli operatives can be heard reportedly threatening to kill the families of Iranian officials. “We will hit you, your family, your children, everyone, with the dirt.”

Mossad reportedly contacted IRGC commanders, warning them to resign from the Islamic Republic within 12 hours or be killed—urging them to record videos saying things like: “We won’t sacrifice our lives for those who ruined our country for 46 years.”

UPDATE | 75 Bombs, 125 Aircraft Used In U.S. Strikes On Iran: Operation Midnight Hammer

General Dan Caine and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth provided detailed accounts of Operation Midnight Hammer, a U.S. military operation targeting Iran's nuclear infrastructure.

The operation, ordered by President Donald Trump, involved 125 U.S. aircraft, including seven B-2 bombers, and the deployment of approximately 75 precision-guided munitions, including the first operational use of the 30,000-pound GBU-57 Massive Ordnance Penetrator (MOP) bombs. These bombs were specifically designed to destroy deeply buried targets like the Fordow nuclear facility.

The strikes were conducted with a high level of secrecy and operational security, employing decoys and deception tactics to maintain tactical surprise, Gen. Caine said.

The operation was executed by US Central Command under the command of General Erik Kurilla, targeting three Iranian nuclear sites: Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan. Initial assessments indicated that all three sites sustained extremely severe damage and destruction. The mission was described as a "highly classified mission" with very few people in Washington knowing the details of the plan.

Caine explained that the Tomahawks were fired from a US Navy submarine almost an hour and forty minutes before the first B2 dropped its GBU57 on Fordow, but the TLAMS targeting Isfahan were timed to impact after the B2 mission complete so as not to alert Iranian defenses. Timed to precision from air and by sea.

"At approximately 5 p.m. Eastern Standard Time last night and just prior to the strike package entering Iran, a U.S. submarine in the Central Command area of responsibility launched more than two dozen Tomahawk land attack cruise missiles against key surface infrastructure targets as often as the Operation Midnight Hammer strike package entered Iranian airspace," Caine said.

"We are currently unaware of any shots fired at the U.S. strike package on the way in. At approximately 6:40 p.m. Eastern Standard Time, 2:10 a.m. Iran time, the lead B-2 dropped two GBU 57 Massive Ordnance Penetrator weapons on the first of several Aim points at Fordow as the president stated last night. The remaining bombers then hit their targets as well, with a total of 14 Mops dropped against two nuclear target areas. All three Iranian nuclear infrastructure targets were struck between 6:40 p.m. and 7:05 p.m. Eastern Time.

"Again, that's about 2:10 in the morning local time in Iran with the Tomahawk missiles being the last to strike at Isfahan to ensure we retain the element of surprise throughout the operation."

The operation's success was attributed to the coordination and capabilities of the U.S. joint forces, involving multiple domains and theatres, including air, sea, cyber, and space. The mission required months of preparation and involved new-but-proven technologies to maintain undersea dominance and operational security. Despite the initial success, the long-term impact on Iran's nuclear capabilities remains to be fully assessed.

Trump reportedly informed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu about his intention to pursue a nuclear deal with Iran following the Operation Midnight Hammer.

Iran condemned the attacks, calling them a violation of international law and vowed to continue its nuclear program. Iranian officials have threatened to retaliate against U.S. troops in the region, and the U.S. has elevated force protection measures at bases across the region, including in Iraq, Syria, and the Gulf. Additionally, Iranian parliament passe a law apporoving the potential closure of the Strait of Hormuz, which could have significant implications for global oil and natural gas prices.

"The United States, a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, has committed a grave violation of the UN Charter, international law and the NPT by attacking Iran's peaceful nuclear installations," Iran's Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi wrote on X. "The events this morning are outrageous and will have everlasting consequences. Each and every member of the UN must be alarmed over this extremely dangerous, lawless and criminal behavior. In accordance with the UN Charter and its provisions allowing a legitimate response in self-defense, Iran reserves all options to defend its sovereignty, interest, and people."

The Israeli military, in an initial analysis, reportedly believes that the Fordow nuclear facility has sustained serious damage from the U.S. strike but has not been completely destroyed. According to reports, Israeli officials noted that Iran appeared to have moved equipment, including uranium, away from the site prior to the attack.

Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio defended the U.S. strikes on Iranian nuclear sites during their appearances on Sunday shows, while Republican Congressman Thomas Massie criticized the action as unconstitutional.

Vance described the operation as a precise and successful military effort aimed at halting Iran's nuclear program, emphasizing that the U.S. is "not at war with Iran" but rather targeting its nuclear capabilities.

The vice president who appeared on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” also stressed the administration’s interest in pursuing a diplomatic resolution, saying that President Trump wants to engage in a diplomatic process. He further argued that retaliation from Iran would be a “catastrophic mistake” and emphasized the need for peace.

Rubio echoed the same sentiment, warning that if Iran continues its pursuit of nuclear weapons, it could lead to the end of the regime.

The secretary of state who appeared on CBS’s “Face the Nation” and Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures,” where he took a more hardline stance, warning that Iran’s continued nuclear ambitions could lead to the downfall of the regime. He framed the strikes as a strong message to Tehran and emphasized the U.S.’s commitment to preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.

Republican Congressman Thomas Massie voiced strong opposition to the strikes, calling them unconstitutional and accusing President Trump of misleading his base.

Massie argued that the decision to strike Iran should have required congressional approval and warned that the action could lead to broader conflict. The Congressman also indicated he would seek ways to force a vote on a War Powers resolution to limit presidential authority in future military actions.

UPDATE | U.S. Airstrikes Target Iran's Fordow, Natanz, Isfahan Nuclear Facilities

President Donald Trump announced that the United States Air Force(USAF) successfully struck the Fordow nuclear site in Iran, along with Natanz and Isfahan, in a military operation that marks a significant escalation in the conflict between the Israel and Iran.

"We have completed our very successful attack on the three Nuclear sites in Iran, including Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan," Trump wrote on Truth Social Sunday, UTC. "All planes are now outside of Iran air space. A full payload of BOMBS was dropped on the primary site, Fordow. All planes are safely on their way home. Congratulations to our great American Warriors. There is not another military in the World that could have done this. NOW IS THE TIME FOR PEACE! Thank you for your attention to this matter."

Speaking to Americans in a televised address, Trump warned that if Iran does not accept peace, the U.S will strike other targets in the country.

"ANY RETALIATION BY IRAN AGAINST THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA WILL BE MET WITH FORCE FAR GREATER THAN WHAT WAS WITNESSED TONIGHT. THANK YOU! DONALD J. TRUMP, PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES," the President later warned on Truth Social.

The Fordow facility, located deep underground and heavily fortified, was targeted by B-2 stealth bombers carrying "bunker buster" bombs. Iranian state media confirmed the attack on Fordow, though the extent of the damage remains unclear.

USAF B-2 Spirit stealth bombers reportedly dropped six 30k pound GBU-57 Massive Ordnance Penetrators (MOPs) on the Fordow nuclear enrichment facility.

A heavily fortified underground facility located near Qom, Iran, Fordow is designed to withstand conventional air strikes. It has been a focal point of international concern due to its potential role in Iran's nuclear program.

Fordow is considered one of Iran's most critical nuclear sites, with experts suggesting it may be involved in clandestine efforts to develop nuclear weapons. The site contains advanced centrifuges and has been a target of Israeli and U.S. military interest.

UPDATE | Israeli, Iranian Airstrike Exchanges Target Iran's Arak Nuclear Reactor, IDF Intelligence Facilities Near Soroka Medical Center

lsrael conducted airstrikes targeting Iran’s Arak heavy water reactor and other strategic locations in Iran, escalating the ongoing conflict. In response, Iran launched missile attacks, with one striking the Soroka Medical Center in southern Israel, which Iran says was intended to target nearby IDF intelligence facilities.

Israeli Airforce targeted the Arak facility, which has been a focal point of concern due to its potential to produce plutonium, a byproduct that could be used in nuclear weapons. Iranian state television reported that the facility had been evacuated before the attack and there was "no radiation danger whatsoever."

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) confirmed that the reactor was not operational and contained no nuclear material, so no radiological effects were anticipated

Israeli airstrikes also targeted Tehran and other areas in Iran, including military and nuclear-related facilities. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) claimed to have struck over 170 targets in three days, aiming to cripple Iran’s nuclear program and military infrastructure

Iran launched a retaliatory ballistic missile that struck the Soroka Medical Center in Beersheba, Israel, causing extensive damage and injuring dozens. Iran’s Revolutionary Guard(IRGC) said the intended target was an Israeli military and intelligence headquarters near the hospital, not the medical facility itself.

The target was reportedly the Israeli army’s central command and intelligence base (IDF C4I) and a military intelligence camp located in the Gav-Yam technology park, adjacent to Soroka Hospital in Be’er Sheva.

Thousands of Israeli soldiers are based in that location, which also houses critical systems such as digital command infrastructure, cyber operations, and C4ISR systems.

Iran reportedly used missles with multiple warheads in the latest attck which can disrupt Israeli defense systems. According to senior Iranian Official Mohsen Rezaee, "In just the past 48 hours, you saw that we employed a new tactic, a combination of Fattah and Sejjil missiles and when these are used together, they truly create serious disruption in the enemy’s defense systems."

The Iranian warhead split into some 20 smaller munitions at an altitude of 7 kilometers, creating a larger blast radius on the ground of some 8 kilometers, according to the IDF.

Israel condemned the attack as a war crime, with Defense Minister Israel Katz vowing to hold Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei accountable.

However critics point out that the IDF has attacked and destroyed over 36 medical facilities in Gaza since its devastating war with Hamas started, killing women and children.

Iranian missiles also hit a high-rise apartment building in Tel Aviv and other sites in Israel. At least 147 people were injured, with six in serious condition, according to Israeli officials. A total of 271 people were reportedly wounded in the Iranian missile attacks, with 71 sustaining minor injuries at the hospital site.

As the debate rages in the U.S. over American involvement in the war, President Trump is facing backlash from his MAGA supporters who oppose any direct U.S. military action against Iran. It's a reckless war initiated by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyah, they argue, and the Jewish state must finish what it started.

"Based on the fact that there is a substantial chance of negotiations that may or may not take place with Iran in the future, I will make my decision whether or not to go within the next two weeks,” Trump said in statement read to reporters at the White House Thursday, by Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt.

Trump reprtedly wants to strike Iran only if U.S. can destroy the Fordow enrichment facility with bunker-busting bombs. The facility is embedded inside a mountain and highly fortified.

The 30-ton Massive Ordnance Penetrator, GBU-57A/B is capable of penetrating hundreds of meters of fortified underground facilities.

“To destroy Fordow, it would take at least two bombs hitting exactly the same point,” said American military analyst Robert Pape. "It is technically possible (to take it out), and the US Air Force is capable of doing it. But in real combat conditions, it has never happened."

The Pentagon concluded earlier this year the bunker-busting bombs don’t go deep enough, and totally destroying Fordow may require a tactical nuclear weapon.

Meanwhile on the negotiations front, U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff has reportedly been in regular contact with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.

UPDATE | Israeli Missile Strikes Target A Live TV Building, As Israel, Trump Warn Civilians In Tehran To 'Immediately Evacuate'

As the war enters the fifth day, Israeli airstrikes have hit Iran's state broadcaster during a live news broadcast, marking a significant escalation in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran.

The Israeli Air Force has targeted multiple military and nuclear infrastructure sites in Iran, including facilities in Tehran, Isfahan, and Fordow, while Iran has retaliated with missile strikes against Israeli cities such as Tel Aviv and Haifa, killing at least eight people and injuring dozens more.

President Donald Trump, speaking from the G7 summit in Canada, urged Iran to come to the negotiation table, stating that a deal is possible but emphasizing that Iran must act quickly before the situation worsens.

The Israeli airstrike Monday, hit the headquarters of Iran’s state broadcaster (IRIB/IRINN) during a live broadcast, plunging the set into darkness and setting parts of the building on fire. The anchorwoman Sahar Emami was heard describing the sounds of bombing before the explosion hit the studio.

Israel confirmed that its strikes targeted key nuclear and military facilities, including Natanz, Isfahan, and Fordow, aiming to set back Iran’s nuclear program by what Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described as “a very long time.” The Israeli military also issued evacuation warnings for areas near weapons production facilities in Tehran.

An Iranian missile strike hit an oil refinery in Haifa Bay, killing three employees and causing significant damage. The refinery was shut down following the attack. Missiles and drones struck Tel Aviv and Haifa early Monday, killing at least eight people and injuring nearly 100. A school in Bnei Brak was also hit, prompting emergency responses.

Iran reported at least 224 deaths and over 1,200 injuries, while Israel reported between 18 and 24 deaths and over 390 injuries. Both sides have issued evacuation orders for civilian areas near military targets.

President Trump urged Iran to negotiate, stating that a deal is likely but warning that “Iran is foolish not to sign.” In a Truth Social post, he also advised all civilians in Tehran to “immediately evacuate,” triggering panic online and in Iran.

Many critics including prominent MAGA supporters of the president on social media slammed him for the recklessly threatening and insensitive post.

Thousands of Tehran residents fled the capital overnight, with roads leading north to the Caspian Sea jammed with evacuees. Fuel rationing and ATM withdrawal limits were reported as panic spread.

Russia, China and some other countries have advised their citizens to leave Israel.

The U.S. has moved an aircraft carrier and additional military assets to the Middle East in response to the conflict. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth confirmed the deployment of more defensive capabilities to the region, though specific details were not disclosed.

Trump's handling of the conflict has divided opinion within the MAGA movement, with majority of his supporters adamantly opposed to U.S. involvement in the war especially given that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu initiated the war while the U.S. was conducting negotiations with Iran.

An Israeli Cabinet member Gila Gamliel on Monday arrogantly said: “We categorically demand that the United States join the war against Iran." Netanyahu told US TV

The Trump administration has denied direct involvement in Israel’s strikes but provided limited support after the president was reportedly convinced of the threat posed by Iran’s nuclear program.

The U.S. has reportedly proposed nuclear and ceasefire talks this week, to the Iranians.

UPDATE | Israel, Iran Exchange Missile, Drone Barrage As War Between Both Nations Intensifies

Iran launched a large-scale retaliatory barrage of ballistic missiles late Saturday and into early Sunday, targeting Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Haifa, and other parts of central Israel, striking residential buildings and infrastructure. This follows Israeli Air Force (IAF) strikes on Iranian targets, including nuclear facilities, military installations, and an oil refinery in the South Pars gas field.

Iran fired approximately 200 ballistic missiles in multiple waves, with some penetrating Israel’s Iron Dome air defense system and hitting densely populated areas such as Tel Aviv, Rishon Lezion, and Ramat Gan.

At least three people were killed and over 200 injured in the attacks, with significant damage reported to residential buildings and public infrastructure. Sirens were heard across northern and central Israel, including in Haifa, prompting civilians to seek shelter as defensive systems attempted to intercept incoming missiles.

Videos online showed explosions and fires in Tel Aviv, with air raid sirens forcing residents into shelters. At least one residential building in Ramat Gan was heavily damaged, with reports of burned-out cars and structural destruction. Missile also reportedly hit Weizmann Institute of Science, a major Israeli research center in Rehovot.

Missiles were intercepted over Jerusalem, with explosions lighting up the sky. No direct hits were reported in Jerusalem, but sirens disrupted normal life.

Iranian missiles reportedly struck an oil refinery in the Haifa Bay area, causing structural damage and fires, though no immediate casualties were confirmed at the refinery. Air raid sirens were also reported in the northern city.

Strikes also hit residential areas in central Israel, with one missile impact site stretching half a block in a city near Tel Aviv (exact location withheld by Israeli military).

Israeli officials confirmed that the IAF conducted extensive strikes on Iranian targets, including the Khondab heavy water reactor, and an oil refinery in Iran’s South Pars gas field, marking the first known Israeli strike on Iran’s oil and gas industry.

IAF strike also targeted the command headquarters of Iran’s Ministry of Defense and the SPND building, according to IRGC's Tasnim. Iran’s Organization of Defensive Innovation and Research (SPND) is the direct successor organization to Iran’s pre-2004 nuclear weapons program, also referred to as the Amad Project, according to the US State Department.

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei vowed a “severe punishment” for Israel’s actions, while Israel’s Defense Minister Israel Katz warned that “Tehran will burn” if Iran continues missile attacks on Israeli civilians.

Israel has reportedly asked the U.S. to join the war against Iran, as Israeli citizens panic over the unprecedented damage to the homeland inflicted by Iranian missile and drone barrage.

Some citizens told local far-left Haaretz newspaper that only intervention by the U..S. will save them from the catastrophe caused by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's reckless decision to order air strikes on Iran Friday.

However the potential U.S. involvement in the war is very unpopular among President Trump's MAGA supporters, with many prominent American conservative commentators and influencers openly calling out the president for being "complicit" in the war, after his "no new wars" promise to voters during last year's presidential campaign.

Russian President Vladimir Putin reportedly offered to mediate between Israel and Iran, following calls with both leaders.

==================

Israeli air strikes and ground intelligence operations targeted key nuclear and military sites across Iran Friday, including the nuclear facilities in Natanz, Isfahan, and Fordow near Qom, in an operation dubbed "Rising Lion." The strikes began around 0000 UTC, with explosions reported in Tehran, Isfahan, Tabriz, Shiraz, and Kermanshah.

The strikes, confirmed by the Israeli military, were aimed at disrupting Iran's nuclear infrastructure and ballistic missile capabilities. Among the casualties were several high-ranking officials, including General Gholam Ali Rashid, the deputy chief of the general staff of the armed forces, and senior nuclear scientist Fereydoun Abbasi Mohammad Bagheri, the chief of staff of Iran’s Armed Forces, was also killed in the attack.

Iranian state media reported strikes on residential neighborhoods in Tehran, including upscale areas like Qeytariyeh and Niavaran, resulting in civilian casualties, including women and children. There are reports that several Israeli aircraft including an F-35 fighter jet were shot down by Iranian air defense system.

The Israeli strikes also targeted military bases, missile depots, ballistic missile factories, and an underground command center in Tehran, where senior Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) officials were meeting.

The Natanz uranium enrichment facility, a critical component of Iran’s nuclear program, was significantly damaged. Other nuclear sites at Khondab, Khorramabad, and Arak (heavy water production) were also hit.

“In the past 24 hours, we have taken out top military commanders, senior nuclear scientists, the Islamic regime's most significant enrichment facility and a large portion of its ballistic missile arsenal," Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a video message. "More is on the way... The regime does not know what hit them, or what will hit them. It has never been weaker.”

The Israeli Air Force (IAF) launched a large-scale aerial campaign, deploying 200 fighter jets to strike over 100 targets across Iran. The operation was described as a preemptive strike to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons. The operation involved multiple waves of air strikes, supported by intelligence from the Mossad and Israeli military intelligence. Drones and weapons smuggled into Iran were used to target key personnel and infrastructure.

The Mossad — Israel's equivalent of the CIA — released footage of its operatives carrying out covert operations inside Iran ahead of Israel's historic strike. This is a rare look at the agency's activities, which are mostly secret.

According to a senior Israeli security official, the Mossad took several steps inside Iran to prepare for Israel's preemptive attack. The agency set up a secret explosive drone base inside Iran prior to the attack. Once the strikes started, the drones were activated to destroy surface-to-surface missiles that Israel said posed a threat to its civilians.

Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei warned Israel to prepare for a "bitter and painful fate." Iran also vowed to respond, accusing the US of complicity in the strikes. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated that the country would continue to enrich uranium and rebuild any damaged facilities.

Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi called the attack a “declaration of war” and accused the United States of coordinating with Israel, holding Washington responsible for the consequences.

Iran has started its retaliatory waves of drone and missile strikes against Israel Friday, hitting many targets including near Israel's Defense Ministry headquarters in Tel Aviv. Some of the drones and missiles are being intercepted by Israeli defense systems. Jordanian and Iraqi authorities have also reported intercepting drones and missiles in their airspace.

In a statement, the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corp, IRGC said: “In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

"And those who have wronged will know to what [kind of] return they will be returned.

"Following the aggression and aggressive operations launched by the terrorist oppressive Zionist regime and child killer this morning against areas in Islamic Iran, and the martyrdom of a constellation of senior commanders of the armed forces, prominent scientists, and innocent citizens, especially the oppressed children, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, as the defensive and offensive arm of the Iranian nation, relying on divine power and the wise guidance of the Supreme Leader of the Armed Forces (Supreme Defender), and in response to and with unified support from the noble Iranian people, launched its crushing and precise response against dozens of targets and military centers and air bases of the usurping Zionist regime in the occupied territories.

"Operation True Promise 3 has begun, with the slogan "O Ali ibn Abi Talib (peace be upon him)" at the beginning of the night of Eid al-Ghadir.

"The noble Iranian people will be informed of the details of this operation in a subsequent statement.”

Senior U.S. officials reportedly said that American forces are assisting Israel to shoot down Iranian missiles.

"There are hundreds of thousands of American citizens and other American assets in Israel and the U.S. is working to protect them," the official said in a statement.

There are reportedly two U.S. Navy destroyers, the USS Sullivans and USS Arleigh Burke, in the Eastern Mediterranean. Officials say that the U.S. Army assisting in shooting down incoming Iranian missiles with Patriot Pac-3 missiles and with Thaad.

The US denied involvement in the strikes, with Secretary of State Marco Rubio emphasizing that the US was not involved and urging Iran not to target American interests.

However, President Donald Trump acknowledged that the US had prior knowledge of the operation, and has reportedly reached out to the Iranian leadership to return to the negotiating table for nuclear talks which is scheduled to take place on Sunday.

Russian representative at the UN Security Council calaimed that there was “likely coordination between Israel and British special services” in the attacks on Iran. “Immediately after the Israeli strikes, they sheltered the Israeli aviation which participated in the strikes in their bases in Cyprus," the official said.

There have been reports of nuclear leaks in Iran, however the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) claimed that radiation levels at Natanz remained unchanged.

The SpaceX Crew Dragon spacecraft 'Grace' carrying the four-member Axiom Mission 4 (Ax-4) crew, undocked from the International Space Station (ISS) on July 14 at 1115 UTC. The undocking followed hatch closure at 0907 UTC and alignment confirmation, marking the beginning of the crew's 22.5-hour return journey to Earth.

Ax-4's commander and former NASA astronaut Peggy Whitson, is now Houston-based Axiom Space's director of human spaceflight. "Space Station, Grace," Whitson said over the communication system as the Crew Dragon crossed out of the ISS's safety "keep-out sphere," "The Ax-4 crew wants to thank you very much for your support. You guys are amazing."

Whitson's crewmates are pilot Shubhanshu "Shux" Shukla and mission specialists Sławosz "Suave" Uznański-Wiśniewski and Tibor Kapu. This was the first spaceflight for each of those three. But Ax-4 is Whitson's fifth mission to orbit and raises her current record for most cumulative days in space by an American to 695.

The Ax-4 crew took on more than 60 experiments and technology demonstrations with contributions from 31 different nations, as well as a number of public outreach events, breaking a record for Axiom as it continues to hone its orbital operations.

Grace docked to the ISS on June 26. Ax-4, Axiom's fourth to the space station, is an extension of the Houston-based company's previous crewed flights, with research and science investigations aimed at furthering understandings of the microgravity environment.

The mission, which lasted ~2.5 weeks, will conclud with the spacecraft splashdown off the California coast on July 15. This will be SpaceX's second West Coast crew recovery. The first was that of the Crew-9 ISS mission in March.

SpaceX shifted to Pacific Ocean rather than Atlantic or Gulf recoveries, after instances of debris from Dragon's trunk surviving atmospheric reentry and crashing back to Earth.

UPDATE | SpaceX Private Ax-4 Astronauts Arrive At The Space Station

The SpaceX Ax-4 Crew Dragon "Grace" docked with the International Space Station (ISS) at 1031 UTC on June 26, and the hatches between the spacecraft and the station were opened at 1214 UTC. The station's current crew, including Exp. 73 commander JAXA astronaut Takuya Onishi, welcomed the Ax-4 astronauts abaord.

The spacecraft had launched from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida on a Falcon 9 rocket at 0631 UTC on June 25 for Houston-based Axiom Space, completing a 28-hour orbital journey to the space station.

Welcoming the Ax-4 crew mission commander Peggy Whitson, mission pilot Shubhanshu Shukla (India), mission specialists Sławosz Uznański (Poland) and Tibor Kapu (Hungary), Onishi noted the presence of 11 astronauts from six countries on the ISS. He welcomed the crew, stating, “With your arrival right now, there are 11 astronauts from six countries, and all of us are here in order to advance human space exploration and scientific research, symbolizing international cooperation.”

The Ax-4 crew received their astronaut wings during the ceremony, with Whitson expressing appreciation for the support provided by the ISS crew and Kapu describing the Expedition 73 team as “the best crew” to join.

The Ax-4 crew will work alongside the Expedition 73 members, including NASA astronauts Anne McClain, Nichole Ayers, and Jonny Kim, JAXA’s Onishi, and Roscosmos cosmonauts Sergey Ryzhikov, Kirill Peskov, and Alexey Zubritsky.

"We're looking forward to getting a lot of work done with you guys, and I really appreciate all the support you provided for to us in advance of actually even getting here," Whitson said in response to Onishi.

"I'm very, very confident that the next 14 days are going to be amazing, advancing science and research and working together," said Shukla, mentioning that the view so far had surpassed his expectations.

"This is an ultimate scientific laboratory where we come to do science, to test the technologies of our countries, to do technology demonstrations and science outreach that I can't wait to do for the for the next two weeks, and we will all try to do our best representing our countries," Uznański said as he was handed the microphone.

Finally, as his wings were clipped to his jumpsuit, "I really feel that this is the best crew that you could join. It really feels great to be part of Expedition 73," said Kapu. "I'm 100% sure that this is going to be awesome."

The Ax-4 mission, a private astronaut mission, will last approximately 14 days, during which the crew will conduct over 60 scientific experiments, including seven proposed by India, such as studying water bears (tardigrades) in microgravity and investigations in bio-manufacturing and bio-astronautics.

Falcon 9 rocket launched SpaceX's newest Dragon spacecraft, named "Grace," at 0631 UTC on June 25, 2025, from Launch Complex-39A at NASA's Kennedy Space Center. The Ax-4 mission for Houston-based Axiom Space, to the International Space Station (ISS) is carrying former NASA astronaut Peggy Whitson, who is also Axiom's director of human spaceflight. Alongside her are mission pilot Shubhanshu Shukla and specialists Sławosz Uznański-Wiśniewski and Tibor Kapu.

The Falcon 9 first stage booster (B1094) touched down safely as planned about ~8 minutes after liftoff at SpaceX's Landing Zone 1(LZ 1) at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station.

About a minute later, the Falcon 9's second stage completed its orbital insertion and deployed Dragon to begin the final leg of Ax-4's journey to the space station.

The Dragon spacecraft is scheduled to dock with the dorsal port of the space station's Harmony module at approximately 1100 UTC on June 26.

Grace is the fifth Crew Dragon in SpaceX's fleet, and was named by the Ax-4 crew, with its name symbolizing elegance and harmony in space exploration. Ax-4 is the Dragon's debut mission carrying the crew of four to the International Space Station (ISS). The spacecraft featured upgraded life-support systems, touchscreen controls, and autonomous docking capabilities.

The crew shared images of their mission's zero-g indicator, a plush baby swan toy named Joy, symbolized cultural values—wisdom (India), resilience (Poland), and grace (Hungary)—and signaled the crew’s arrival in microgravity.

The Ax-4 crew will spend about two weeks aboard the ISS, living and working alongside the seven long-term occupants of ISS Expedition 73. They will conduct more than 60 science experiments and STEM outreach events, the highest number on any Axiom mission to date, representing 31 countries, including the U.S., India, Poland, Hungary, and others.

The experiments focuses on:

  • Human Research: Studies on muscle regeneration and the impact of isolation on mental health.

  • Life and Biological Sciences: Investigations into how sprouts, edible microalgae, and tiny aquatic organisms grow and survive in microgravity.

  • Earth Observation: Research to support environmental monitoring.

  • Material Sciences: Technology demonstrations for future space applications.

The crew trained extensively for ISS operations, with access to the U.S. segment of the station, including the Columbus and Kibō modules. Educational outreach included interactive events with schools and communities in the crew’s home countries.

This mission marks the first time people from India, Poland, and Hungary have flown together to the ISS and represents the return of these countries to human spaceflight for the first time in 40 years  It is also the fourth private astronaut mission to the ISS.

Whitson is a former NASA astronaut and Axiom Space’s Director of Human Spaceflight. She is the most experienced American astronaut, with 675 days in space prior to this mission. This was her fifth spaceflight and second time commanding an Axiom mission. She holds records for the most spacewalks by a female astronaut (10) and the most cumulative time in space by a U.S. astronaut.

Shukla is a Group Captain in the Indian Air Force and an astronaut with the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). Shukla became the second Indian to reach space and the first to serve in a critical operational role on an ISS mission. With over 2,000 hours of flight experience, he trained at the Yuri Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center in Russia and is part of India’s Gaganyaan program, set for 2027.

Uznański-Wiśniewski is a European Space Agency (ESA) project astronaut from the 2022 Astronaut Reserve Class. Uznański-Wiśniewski was the second Polish astronaut to travel to space and the first since 1978. An engineer with experience at CERN’s Large Hadron Collider, he trained extensively in Europe, Japan, and the U.S. for the mission, carrying the Polish flag from the 1978 mission.

Kapu is representing the Hungarian to Orbit (HUNOR) program. Kapu was the second Hungarian astronaut to reach space and the first to visit the ISS. A mechanical engineer with expertise in space radiation protection, he was selected from 247 applicants and trained at NASA facilities.

"It has been more than 40 years since the first person from India, Poland and Hungary has been to space, and through this commercial space opportunity we are accelerating the national space programs in each of these three countries and creating new pathways for technological advancements," Whitson said at the crew's January press conferece. "I'm sure this crew is going to be inspiring a whole new generation of young people."

This is the second Axiom astronaut mission to the ISS that has been sponsored in part by another national government or the European Space Agency (ESA). Of the 60 experiments to be carried out by the Ax-4 crew, 17 are being supported by ESA and Poland, and 25 through Hungary's orbital astronaut program HUNOR.

"Each country who comes brings something different than what we have in the normal suite of what we see for our research," said NASA's ISS program manager Dana Weigel during a May 20 Ax-4 press call. "It really expands the breadth of what we can do with research and the number of countries, institutions, academic organizations, etc., who participate."

Thursday's launch was initially scheduled for June 11 but was delayed due to high altitude winds and a leak aboard the ISS.

The space station's aftmost module, Zvezda, has experienced an ongoing leak for more than five years now, but has remained stable during that time. Last week, a change in the pressure data that monitors the leak prompted NASA to delay Ax-4 while they monitored the issue.

Tucker Carlson Suggests Epstein Worked For Mossad, As Trump Admin Faces Backlash Over Cover-up Allegations

Speaking at the Turning Point USA Student Action Summit(SAS) in Tampa, Florida, Friday, popular American journalist and commentator Tucker Carlson claimed that Jeffrey Epstein worked for Israeli intelligence, specifically the Mossad, as part of a blackmail operation in the U.S.

The Department of Justice(DOJ) concluded that Epstein did not have the long-rumored client list of powerful figures that many believed he had. Additionally, the DOJ reiterated its conclusion that Epstein committed suicide in a Manhattan jail cell in 2019.

The memo has triggered backlash against the administration among President Donald Trump’s supporters, who had hoped the president would facilitate the release of all materials related to Epstein. And many have called for the firing of Attorney General Pam Bondi for the fiasco.

Carlson argued that people should be free to discuss this possibility without fear of being labeled anti-Semitic or anti-Israel. The former Fox News host emphasized that the questions surrounding Epstein's motives and funding sources had not been adequately addressed, and he criticized the lack of transparency from the Trump administration regarding the case.

“The real question is, why was he doing this, on whose behalf, and where did the money come from?” Carlson asked the audience.

“And those are the questions that need to be answered. And I think it’s entirely fair to ask them.

"And I think the real answer is Jeffrey Epstein was working on behalf of intel services, probably not American. And we have every right to ask, on whose behalf was he working? How does a guy go from being a math teacher at the Dalton School in thelate 70s with no college degree to having multiple airplanes, a private island, and the largest residential house in Manhattan? Where did all the money come from? And no one has ever gotten to the bottom of that because no one has ever tried. And moreover, it’s extremely obvious to anyone who watches, that this guy had direct connections to a foreign government.

"Now, no one’s allowed to say that the foreign government is Israel because we have been somehow cowed into thinking that’s naughty. [cheers] There is nothing wrong with saying that. There is nothing hateful about saying that. There’s nothing anti-Semitic about saying that. There’s nothing even anti-Israel about saying that…

"And you have the right to expect your government will not act against your interests, and you have a right to demand that foreign governments not be allowed to act against your interests. [cheers] That’s not creepy. It shouldn’t be forbidden. And yet all of us have trained ourselves to believe that you can’t say that somehow. That that’s like too naughty and forbidden. And the effect of making that off-limits has been to create a lot of resentment and I’ll say it, hate online, where people feel like they can’t just say, “What the hell is this? You have the former Israeli prime minister living in your house? You have all this contact with a foreign government. Were you working on behalf of them? Were you running a blackmail operation on behalf of a foreign government?

"By the way, every single person in Washington, D.C. thinks that. I’ve never met anyone who doesn’t think that. I don’t know any of them that hate Israel. But no one feels they can say that. Why? And I think the longer we play along with it, the more subterranean and creepy and hateful the conversation becomes. So, I think it’s better just to say it right out loud."

Trump who had earlier faced criticisms for downplaying and dismissing questions about the Epstein case, sought to again downplay the case Saturday. In a lengthy social media post, he urged his supporters to move on from the case.

The president wrote, "What’s going on with my 'boys' and, in some cases, 'gals?' They’re all going after Attorney General Pam Bondi, who is doing a FANTASTIC JOB! We’re on one Team, MAGA, and I don’t like what’s happening. We have a PERFECT Administration, THE TALK OF THE WORLD, and “selfish people” are trying to hurt it, all over a guy who never dies, Jeffrey Epstein. For years, it’s Epstein, over and over again.

"Why are we giving publicity to Files written by Obama, Crooked Hillary, Comey, Brennan, and the Losers and Criminals of the Biden Administration, who conned the World with the Russia, Russia, Russia Hoax, 51 'Intelligence' Agents, 'THE LAPTOP FROM HELL,' and more? They created the Epstein Files, just like they created the FAKE Hillary Clinton/Christopher Steele Dossier that they used on me, and now my so-called 'friends' are playing right into their hands.

"Why didn’t these Radical Left Lunatics release the Epstein Files? If there was ANYTHING in there that could have hurt the MAGA Movement, why didn’t they use it? They haven’t even given up on the John F. Kennedy or Martin Luther King, Jr. Files.

"No matter how much success we have had, securing the Border, deporting Criminals, fixing the Economy, Energy Dominance, a Safer World where Iran will not have Nuclear Weapons, it’s never enough for some people. We are about to achieve more in 6 months than any other Administration has achieved in over 100 years, and we have so much more to do.

"We are saving our Country and, MAKING AMERICA GREAT AGAIN, which will continue to be our complete PRIORITY. The Left is imploding! Kash Patel, and the FBI, must be focused on investigating Voter Fraud, Political Corruption, ActBlue, The Rigged and Stolen Election of 2020, and arresting Thugs and Criminals, instead of spending month after month looking at nothing but the same old, Radical Left inspired Documents on Jeffrey Epstein.

"LET PAM BONDI DO HER JOB — SHE’S GREAT! The 2020 Election was Rigged and Stolen, and they tried to do the same thing in 2024 — That’s what she is looking into as AG, and much more. One year ago our Country was DEAD, now it’s the 'HOTTEST' Country anywhere in the World. Let’s keep it that way, and not waste Time and Energy on Jeffrey Epstein, somebody that nobody cares about. Thank you for your attention to this matter!"

Trump's post drew even more furious criticisms online, with many accusing him of desperately trying to cover up for his "Israeli puppet masters."

“We’re running a coverup operation for an Israeli pedophile blackmail ring, and if you don’t stop asking about Jeffrey Epstein I’m gonna get pissed,”  one X user wrote sarcastically mocking Trump.

Grok 4: Elon Musk's xAI Launches Latest Version of Its AI Chatbot

Elon Musk's xAI has officially launched Grok 4, its latest AI model, during a livestream event early morning Thursday(UTC). The model is positioned as the world's most powerful AI, with advanced reasoning and real-world problem-solving capabilities, surpassing models from OpenAI, Google, and Anthropic.

“Grok 4 is a postgrad-level in everything,” Musk said during the hour-long live broadcast. “With respect to academic questions, Grok 4 is better than PhD level in every subject, no exceptions. At times, it may lack common sense, and it has not yet invented new technologies or discovered new physics, but that is just a matter of time.”

xAI launched two models: Grok 4 and Grok 4 Heavy — the latter being the company’s “multi-agent version” that offers increased performance. Musk claimed that Grok 4 Heavy spawns multiple agents to work on a problem simultaneously, and then they all compare their work “like a study group” to find the best answer.

xAI says that Grok 4 shows frontier-level performance on several benchmarks, including Humanity’s Last Exam — a challenging test measuring AI’s ability to answer thousands of crowdsourced questions on subjects like math, humanities, and natural science. According to xAI, Grok 4 scored 25.4% on Humanity’s Last Exam without “tools,” outperforming Google’s Gemini 2.5 Pro, which scored 21.6%, and OpenAI’s o3 (high), which scored 21%.

CABdxDYxU75vPUEtvypDsDk6LQCyTb9uF7V2WI-eh40ah2PqCbuC2TLuzQwH-1ogWv91chnGS1B5pXvgBqgtXqO7n8mTdW3AXqBCAu0atTlr7qq32oNRxS1FmUk3rpfVJE3mZUqIe827yJ2mc2ikCZ-iboO3ojrHXGtg7Co-fbI4-0h8Lk5crw=w1280

The company says that Grok 4 Heavy, with “tools,” was able to achieve a score of 44.4%, outperforming Gemini 2.5 Pro with tools, which scored 26.9%.

The nonprofit Arc Prize says that Grok achieves a new state-of-the-art score on its ARC-AGI-2 test — another difficult benchmark that consists of puzzle-like problems where an AI has to identify visual patterns — scoring 16.2%. That’s nearly twice the score of the next best commercial AI model, Claude Opus 4.

During Thursday’s livestream, Musk said that, according to his “biological neural net,” AI systems should be optimized “to be maximally truth seeking” and encouraged “to be truthful, honorable, good things—like the values you want to instill in a child that would ultimately grow up to be incredibly powerful.”

Alongside Grok 4 and Grok 4 Heavy, xAI launched its most expensive AI subscription plan yet, a $300-per-month subscription called SuperGrok Heavy. Subscribers to the plan will get an early preview to Grok 4 Heavy, as well as early access to new features. The plan is similar to ultra-premium tiers offered by OpenAI, Google, and Anthropic, but xAI now offers the most expensive subscription among major AI providers.

Grok 4 is available through multiple platforms, including the xAI apps, grok.com, and the X platform.
