Pavel Durov, the CEO of Telegram, announced Wednesday, a one-year partnership with Elon Musk's AI company, xAI, to integrate the Grok AI chatbot across Telegram. As part of the deal, xAI will pay Telegram $300 million in cash and equity, and Telegram will receive 50% of the revenue from xAI subscriptions sold through the platform.
"This summer, Telegram users will gain access to the best AI technology on the market. @elonmusk and I have agreed to a 1-year partnership to bring xAI’s @grok to our billion+ users and integrate it across all Telegram apps. This also strengthens Telegram’s financial position: we will receive $300M in cash and equity from xAI, plus 50% of the revenue from xAI subscriptions sold via Telegram. Together, we win," Durov announced on X.
This integration will provide Telegram's over one billion users with access to advanced AI technology starting this summer.
Grok will be deeply integrated into Telegram, accessible via the search bar, and will offer features such as writing help, moderation, sticker creation, chat summaries, document digests, and group chat moderation.
This deal strengthens Telegram's financial position, contributing to its ongoing growth and development, and cements a relationship between two major pro-free speech platforms -- X and Telegram
