Vice President JD Vance hosted an episode of The Charlie Kirk Show from the White House on Monday, as a tribute to his late friend and political ally, conservative activist and TPUSA founder Charlie Kirk, who was assassinated on Sept. 10, during a campus event in Utah.

The vice president used the platform to call out the "incredibly destructive movement of left-wing extremism" for Kirk's death, claiming it was a key factor in the assassination. He was joined by top administration figures, including White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller and popular commentator and journalist Tucker Carlson, who also accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of exploiting the tragedy.

Vance, who described Kirk as "the smartest political operative I ever met" and a "joyful warrior for our country," hosted the podcast to honor his friend and pledged to dismantle left-wing extremism. He said that "this is not a both sides problem" and claimed that "most of the lunatics in American politics today are proud members of the far left," citing polling data from YouGov.

The vice president canceled a planned trip to the 9/11 (2001 terrorist attack on the Wall Trade Center) memorial to accompany Kirk's body from Utah to Arizona on Air Force Two, a gesture he described as an honor.

"There is NO UNITY with people who scream at children over their parents' politics," Vance said. "There is NO UNITY with someone who LIES about what Charlie Kirk said in order to excuse his murder. There is NO UNITY with someone who HARASSES an innocent family the day after the father of that family lost a dear friend. There is NO UNITY with the people who celebrate Charlie Kirk's assassination."

Miller echoed Vance's rhetoric, vowing to use "every resource we have at the Department of Justice, Homeland Security and throughout this government" to "identify, disrupt, dismantle and destroy" what he termed "terrorist networks" linked to left-wing extremism. The White House Deputy Chief of Staff described the movement as a "vast domestic terror movement" and pledged to target non-governmental organizations (NGOs) that support violence, not free speech.

In his comments on the show, Carlson accused Netanyahu of exploiting the assassination of Charlie Kirk for political gain. The Israeli rime minister has faced backlash online for his comments following Kirk's assassination. He suggested that the deceased TPUSA founder supported the cause of the Israeli government.

Carlson and conservative commentator Candace Owens -- both close friends of Kirk -- revealed the TPUSA founder had a heated meeting over Israeli influence in the U.S. with Netanyahu's pro-Israel Jewish allies including billionaire hedge fund manager Bill Ackman and Babylon Bee CEO Seth Dillon. Kirk also reportedly declined an invitation to visit israel from Netanyahu.

"I don't think its helpful for people, particularly foreign heads of state, to jump in and say he lived for my cause or whatever," Carlson tol Vance. "That's disgusting actually...its also literally untrue."

Vance revealed that while Kirk expressed opposition to U.S. intervention in the 12-day Iran-Israel war, he ultimately supported Trump's decision to bomb Iran's nuclear facilities.

Kirk, 31, was the co-founder of the conservative youth organization Turning Point USA and a close ally of President Donald Trump. He played a significant role in the 2024 Republican campaign, advocating for JD Vance's selection as Trump's running mate and helping to staff the administration.

His assassination occurred during a public event at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah. The suspect, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson of Washington, Utah, has been charged with murder. Utah Governor Spencer Cox has stated Robinson was "radicalized" and had a "leftist ideology."

Punk-rap duo Bob Vylan faced significant backlash after frontman Bobby Vylan made controversial remarks referencing the assassination of TPUSA founder Charlie Kirk during a concert at Amsterdam’s Paradiso Grote Zaal on Saturday, Sept. 13. Kirk was fatally shot on September 10 while speaking at Utah Valley University, an incident authorities have described as a targeted political assassination.

During the performance, Bobby Vylan dedicated the song “CSGB” (an acronym for “chat shit, get banged”) to Kirk, saying: “I want to dedicate this next one to an absolute piece of shit of a human being. The pronouns was/were. ‘Cos if you chat shit, you will get banged. Rest in piss, Charlie Kirk, you piece of shit.”

The comment sparked outrage with many condemning his insensitive remarks. The backlash led to the cancellation of the band’s upcoming concert at the 013 venue in Tilburg, Netherlands, scheduled for September 16. The venue stated that while it understood the context of punk and activism, the comments “go too far” and “no longer fall within the scope of what we can offer as a platform.”

In response, Bobby Vylan released a video on social media on Sunday, Sept. 14, incredibly denying that he celebrated Kirk’s death. He stated: “At no point during yesterday’s show, was Charlie Kirk’s death celebrated. At no point whatsoever. Did we celebrate Charlie Kirk’s death? I did call him a piece of shit, that much is true but at no point was his death celebrated.”

Bob Vylan challenged critics to find any quote proving celebration, asserting that a reporter had attended the show specifically to find controversial material to report. He concluded by urging the public to “calm down,” claiming the narrative had been misrepresented.

Within minutes replies to Bobby Vylan's post on X, were flooded with video clips of him actually celebrating Kirk's assasination during his perfromance. Social media users mocked the punk-rap artist for blatantly lying about what he did. X's fact-checking Community Note also debunked his denial.

The punk rap duo have a history of far-left politically charged performances. The band had their US visas revoked over their rhetoric on the Israel-Palestine conflict. They have consistently defended their rhetoric as opposition to state violence and oppressive systems, not calls for violence against individuals or ethnic groups. However critics pointed out that Vylan targeted an individual, Kirk whose mission was to foster debates between people who diagree on cultural and political issues.

SpaceX Falcon 9 launched Northrop Grumman's new Cygnus XL cargo spacecraft on its debut mission NG-23, to the International Space Station (ISS) on Sunday, Sept. 14, at 2211 UTC from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station's Space Launch Complex 40.

The Falcon 9 rocket's first-stage booster B1094 which is on its fourth flight, successfully returned to Landing Zone 2 at Cape Canaveral about eight minutes after liftoff as planned. Meanwhile Cygnus XL separated from the Falcon 9 second stage in orbit about 15 minutes after liftoff, on its way to the space station.

"@NorthropGrumman's Cygnus XL cargo craft deployed its cymbal-shaped UltraFlex solar arrays about an hour-and-a-half after launch today powering the spacecraft during its flight to the station," NASA ISS page wrote on X.

The NG-23 mission marks the first flight of the Cygnus XL, a significantly larger and more capable freighter capable of carrying 4,990 kilograms(kg) of cargo, a 33% increase over previous models. The previous iteration hauled about 3,855 kg pounds of cargo to the ISS.

The spacecraft, named S.S. William "Willie" McCool in honor of the Columbia STS-107 pilot, will be captured by the station's Canadarm2 robotic arm and berthed to the Unity module on Wednesday, September 17, 2025 at about 1035 UTC.

NG-23 is Northrop Grumman's 23rd resupply mission to the ISS under NASA's Commercial Resupply Services-2 contract. The Cygnus XL's increased capacity allows for more science and cargo delivery, including materials for semiconductor and pharmaceutical crystal production, equipment for cryogenic fuel tank improvements, and a specialized UV light system to combat microbial growth in the station's water systems.

Among the supplies packed aboard the freighter are "materials to produce semiconductor crystals in space and equipment to develop improvements for cryogenic fuel tanks," NASA officials wrote in a statement. "The spacecraft also will deliver a specialized UV light system to prevent the growth of microbe communities that form in water systems and supplies to produce pharmaceutical crystals that could treat cancer and other diseases."

The spacecraft will remain docked to the ISS until at least March 2026, after which it will be filled with waste and deorbited to burn up in Earth's atmosphere. Unlike SpaceX's reusable Dragon capsule, Cygnus is a disposable spacecraft.

The Cygnus XL's larger size necessitates temporary unberthing from the ISS during the approach of a crewed Russian Soyuz spacecraft in November 2025 for safety reasons.

NG-23 is the first Cygnus launch since August 2024, when NG-21 took flight. NG-22 was supposed to follow in January of this year but was delayed to June due to avionics issues. Then, in late March, NASA announced that NG-22 had been called off, as a result of damage the Cygnus incurred during transport to the launch site.
