Trump Proposes Plan For US To Take Over, Rebuild Gaza During Press Conference With Netanyahu
February 05, 2025

US President Donald Trump suggested during a press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House that the United States will take over the Gaza Strip and own it. Trump stated that the US will "level the site" and create an economic development that will supply unlimited numbers of jobs and housing for the people of the area, aiming to turn Gaza into the "Riviera of the Middle East."

"The U.S. will take over the Gaza Strip, and we will do a job with it, too," Trump said Tuesday evening. "We'll own it and be responsible for dismantling all of the dangerous, unexplored bombs and other weapons on the site."

"Level the site and get rid of the destroyed buildings, level it out, create an economic development that will supply unlimited numbers of jobs and housing for the people of the area," he said. "Do a real job. Do something different. Just can't go back. If you go back, it's going to end up the same way it has for 100 years."

The US President suggested that Palestinians should be temporarily relocated to other areas, with the US helping to find "numerous pieces of land" in Egypt, Jordan and other nearby countries, for them to build new homes, and that the Gaza Strip could be developed into a thriving economic zone.

When asked about taking over the Gaza Strip, Trump said he could see the U.S. in a "long-term ownership position" of the piece of land, which would likely bring stability to the Middle East.

"I see it bringing great stability to that part of the Middle East and maybe the entire Middle East," Trump said. "And everybody I've spoken to – this was not a decision made lightly – everybody I've spoken to loves the idea of the United States owning that piece of land. Developing and creating thousands of jobs with something that will be magnificent in a really magnificent area that nobody would know. Nobody can look because all they see is death and destruction and rubble."

Prime Minister Netanyahu praised Trump's "outside the box" thinking and stated that Israel must "finish the job in Gaza" to ensure lasting peace in the region.

Netanyahu, when also asked about the Gaza Strip, reiterated to the media that he has three goals, one of which is to "make sure that Gaza never poses a threat to Israel again."

"President Trump is taking it to a much higher level," the Israeli leader said. "He sees a different – he sees a different future for that piece of land that has been the focus of so much terrorism, so much, so many attacks against us, so many, so many trials and so many tribulations. He has a different idea, and I think it's worth paying attention to this."

The pair's White House meeting included discussing the current ceasefire deal between Israel and the Hamas terror group and its future, Iran's grip on the Middle East and resettling Gaza residents in other nations.

"In our meetings today, the prime minister and I focused on the future, discussing how we can work together to ensure Hamas is eliminated and ultimately restore peace to a very troubled region," Trump said during the press conference. "It's been troubled, but what's happened in the last four years has not been good."

Trump said the Gaza Strip has become "a symbol of death and destruction for so many decades and so bad for the people anywhere near it."

"It should not go through a process of rebuilding and occupation by the same people that have really stood there and fought for it and lived there and died there and lived a miserable existence there," he added.

Netanyahu lauded Trump's tenacity and ability "to think outside the box" during his comments to the press.

"Your willingness to puncture conventional thinking, thinking that has failed time and time and time again, your willingness to think outside the box with fresh ideas, will help us achieve all these goals," he said. "And I've seen you do this many times. You cut to the chase. You see things others refuse to see. You say things others refuse to say, you know. And after the jaws drop, people scratch their heads, and they say, 'You know, he's right.'"

"Israel's victory will be America's victory," Netanyahu said. "We will not only win the war working together, we will win the peace. With your leadership, Mr. President, and our partnership, I believe that we will forge a brilliant future for our region and bring our great alliance to even greater heights."

The proposal has sparked strong reactions from Palestinian militant groups, including Hamas, and has been criticized by many as unrealistic and potentially destabilizing for the region.

However other international security experts argue that Trump's plan, while it may at first appear unworkable, may in fact be one of the best 'America first' realistic plan to end Israel and Hamas' protraction of the decadesold middle east conflict.

U.S. taking the Gaza strip from Israeli military and Hamas, experts argue, eliminates the security threat that Israel uses as an excuse to prolong the occupation, while at the same time giving Palestininas a chance to live peaceful and prosperous lives.

Crew-11 Astronauts Return To Earth In 1st-ever Medical Evacuation From ISS

SpaceX Crew-11 Dragon Endeavour -- carrying NASA astronauts Zena Cardman and Mike Fincke, Japan's Kimiya Yui and Russian cosmonaut Oleg Platonov -- undocked from the space-facing port of the International Space Station (ISS)'s Harmony module at 2220 UTC on Jan. 14, marking the first-ever medical evacuation from the ISS. The departure was prompted by an undisclosed medical issue involving one of the four crew members, which led NASA to cut the mission short.

A crew member experienced a medical situation that led to the cancellation of USA EVA 94, a critical spacewalk to install solar arrays. NASA announced the early return on January 8, 2026, stating the astronaut was in stable condition but required medical care. The crew which launched to the ISS on Aug. 1, 2025, was scheduled to spend a six-month stint on the orbital laboratory and return in late February, but had to depart earlier.

On January 12, 2026, Mike Fincke handed command of the ISS to Roscosmos cosmonaut Sergey Kud-Sverchkov, preparing for the crew’s departure. NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman announced the mission's end during a press conference the same day as the canceled EVA, and crews aboard the ISS began their preparations to leave — including the change of command ceremony.

The Crew-11 astronauts aboard Endeavour now face a roughly 11-hour deorbit trajectory, with an expected parachute-assisted splashdown in the Pacific Ocean, Thursday morning.

Currently aboard the ISS are Sergey Kud-Sverchkov (Roscosmos), Chris Williams (NASA), and Sergey Mikaev (Roscosmos). The skeleton crew will remain until the arrival of SpaceX Crew-12, scheduled for mid-February 2026.

11 Tons: Spanish Authorities Make Their Largest-ever Cocaine Seizure At Sea

Spanish police have made their largest-ever cocaine seizure at sea, intercepting a Cameroon-flagged merchant vessel in the Atlantic Ocean carrying nearly 10,000 kilograms (about 11 tons) of cocaine hidden within a shipment of salt, en route from Brazil to Europe.

The operation, named "White Tide," involved international cooperation with agencies from the US, Brazil, the UK, France, and Portugal, and resulted in the arrest of 13 crew members and the recovery of a firearm used to guard the drugs.

The vessel, identified as the United S, was boarded by Spain’s Special Operations Group (GEO) while en route from Brazil to Europe, and after running out of fuel, it drifted for nearly 12 hours before being towed to the Canary Islands by Spain’s maritime rescue service, SASEMAR.

The cocaine, packed into 294 bales, was concealed among tons of salt cargo, requiring officers to search through the holds to uncover the illicit shipment.

The bust is the largest maritime cocaine seizure in Spain’s history, surpassing the previous record of 7.5 tonnes seized in 1999. The seized drug is valued at over $116.5 million (€100 million).

This operation marks a significant blow to a multinational criminal network involved in trafficking cocaine from South America to Europe via commercial shipping routes.

Spain has increasingly become a key entry point for cocaine into Europe, with authorities seizing 123 tonnes nationwide in 2024, up from 118 tonnes in 2023.

In October 2025, Spanish police seized 6.5 tonnes of cocaine from a vessel off the Canary Islands following a tip from US authorities, and in June 2025, a network using high-speed "narco boats" was dismantled.

Candace Owens: If Anything Happens To Me And Tucker Carlson, Blame Israel

American commentator Candace Owens has said that Israel’s Likud Party, through its lawmaker Dan Illouz, has declared her and journalist Tucker Carlson as enemies and threatened them, asserting that "these people are murderers" and that Israel would be responsible if anything happens to them.

Owens' remarks followed Illouz’s speech in the Knesset, where he criticized what he described as "intellectual vandalism" by Carlson and Owens, framing their rhetoric as a dangerous threat to Western values Owens shared the remarks on social media, questioning the U.S. government’s tolerance of such statements.

The comments originated from a Knesset address by Illouz, a Likud Party member, who warned of a “new enemy rising from within” the West, accusing Owens and Carlson of spreading “poison” under the guise of patriotism.

Owens stated on X: “The Likud party in Israel just named me and Tucker Carlson as enemies that must be fought. These people are murderers. Murderers are threatening me and Tucker Carlson over speech. How is this at all acceptable to our government?”

The American conservative commentator is a known critic of Israel and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and she has condemned the Jewish nation's genocidal military campaign against Palestinians in Gaza, and the undue influence of Israli agents on American foreign policy in the Middle East.

Illouz responded directly on X, clarifying that a Member of Parliament speaking is a democratic debate, not a party directive, and dismissed Owens’ claims of threats as a “desperate silencing tactic” typical of cancel culture. He claimed that Israel, as a democracy, stands for freedom and will not be silenced, asserting that the bond between Israel and America is eternal.

The Likud Party is currently led by Netanyahu and is Israel’s largest right-wing political party, with a history of holding power since 1977.
