Judge Dismisses Discredited Jack Smith's Jan 6 Case Against Trump
November 25, 2024

Following a request by discredited Special Counsel Jack Smith Monday, a judge has dismissed the politically motivated charges against President-elect Donald Trump in the Washington D.C. case regarding the partisan investigation into the Jan. 6 U.S. Capitol breach.

"The Government has moved to dismiss the Superseding Indictment without prejudice," U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan wrote in a decision. "Defendant does not oppose the Motion…and the court will grant it."

Trump pleaded not guilty to all charges in the case and took the fight to the U.S. Supreme Court, arguing on the basis of presidential immunity.

The high court ruled that Trump was immune from prosecution for official presidential acts, forcing Smith to file a new indictment. Trump pleaded not guilty to those new charges, too.

The President-elect's attorneys have been seeking to have the election interference charges dropped in Washington, D.C., alleging that Smith was appointed unlawfully.

"The American People re-elected President Trump with an overwhelming mandate to Make America Great Again. Today’s decision by the DOJ ends the unconstitutional federal cases against President Trump, and is a major victory for the rule of law," Trump spokesman and incoming White House communications director Steven Cheung said in a statement. "The American People and President Trump want an immediate end to the political weaponization of our justice system and we look forward to uniting our country."

"These cases, like all of the other cases I have been forced to go through, are empty and lawless, and should never have been brought. Over $100 Million Dollars of Taxpayer Dollars has been wasted in the Democrat Party’s fight against their Political Opponent, ME," Trump posted on Truth Social Monday. "Nothing like this has ever happened in our Country before." He said "state Prosecutors and District Attorneys, such as Fani Willis and her lover, Nathan Wade (who had absolutely zero experience in cases such as this, but was paid MILLIONS, enough for them to take numerous trips and cruises around the globe!), Letitia James, who inappropriately, unethically, and probably illegally, campaigned on ‘GETTING TRUMP’ in order to win Political Office, and Alvin Bragg, who himself never wanted to bring this case against me, but was forced to do so by the Justice Department and the Democrat Party."

Trump added: "It was a political hijacking, and a low point in the History of our Country that such a thing could have happened, and yet, I persevered, against all odds, and WON. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!"

The election interference case is one of many brought against the former president and President-elect by left-wing prosecutors across the country since the end of his first term in office in 2021. Legal experts have slammed the prosecutions as unprecedented political witch hunt against a political opponent. In many of his speeches during the 2024 presidential campaign, Trump slammed President Joe Biden administration as corrupt and authoritarian.

Smith has also filed a motion to drop his appeal in his classified records case against Trump -- a case that was dismissed in July by federal Judge Aileen Cannon. Cannon ruled Smith was unlawfully appointed as special counsel.

Trump Rejects Latest Iran's Proposal To End The War: 'TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE'

President Donald Trump rejected Iran's latest proposal to end the war in a Truth Social post on Sunday, calling it "TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE" without detailing specific objections. The post stated: "I have just read the response from Iran’s so-called 'Representatives.' I don't like it — TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE!"

Iran's proposal, conveyed via mediator Pakistan, included demands for an end to U.S. sanctions on Iranian oil for 30 days, lifting the naval blockade on Iranian ports, and Iranian management of the Strait of Hormuz under certain U.S. commitments. It also called for separate nuclear negotiations, offering to dilute part of its highly enriched uranium (HEU) stockpile and send the rest to a third country—returnable if the U.S. exits any future deal.

However, Iran refused U.S. demands to dismantle nuclear facilities or surrender its enriched uranium, which Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu emphasized on CBS' 60 Minutes, Sunday, as a reason the war was "not over."

Iranian officials did not publicly release the full text of the proposal, but state media described its focus as ending hostilities on all fronts and ensuring maritime safety in the Persian Gulf.

Lawmakers began drafting a bill to formalize Iran’s control over the Strait of Hormuz, including restricting passage for vessels from "hostile states."

Despite the rejection, a Qatari LNG tanker crossed the strait on Sunday—the first since the war began—suggesting limited confidence-building measures were in motion. The ceasefire remained fragile, with drone attacks reported in Kuwait, the UAE, and Qatari waters on the same day.

UFC 328: Sean Strickland Defeats Khamzat, Regains Middleweight Championship

Sean Strickland defeated Khamzat Chimaev by split decision (48-47, 47-48, 48-47) to regain the UFC middleweight championship at UFC 328, which took place on Saturday night, at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. Strickland, a +400 underdog, utilized a defensive wrestling strategy and a persistent lead jab to neutralize Chimaev’s grappling, securing his second middleweight title.

Chimaev dominated during thge first round with an early takedown and ground control, nearly securing a submission before the round ended. Strickland regained control on the feet during 2 and 3, stuffing takedowns and landing significant strikes, including a moment where he reversed Chimaev to the mat.

Chimaev landed heavy power shots in the fourth round and secured a late takedown to close the round strongly. He also scored an early takedown in the fifth round, but Strickland escaped and out-struck the champion on the feet, landing the decisive blows that influenced the judges.

After the winner was announced, Chimaev respectfully placed the title belt around Strickland’s waist before leaving the octagon, acknowledging the tough battle.

In post-fight remarks Strickland apologized for his pre-fight trash talk, saying: “I want to apologize to my American fans, to my Muslim fans and my Christian fans, I went too fucking hard, I admit it... Chechnya has great fighters. They’re savage. He’s a fucking savage. I should be a better fucking example but I try to sell these fights for you fuckers.” He also praised Chimaev’s durability, noting, “That motherfucker would not go back... Crazy.”

The event was defined by intense "bad blood" between the fighters, including Chimaev kicking Strickland during a press conference face-off. Strickland entered as a massive underdog against Chimaev’s 15-0 undefeated streak (entering the fight). This victory marks Strickland’s second title win, following his upset over Israel Adesanya in 2023, while ending Chimaev’s perfect UFC career.

Chimaev reportedly plans to move to light heavyweight for future fights, ending his reign at 185 pounds.

In other UFC 328 main card fight results, flyweight title champion Joshua Van defeated Tatsuro Taira via TKO (punches) at 1:32 of Round 5, retaining his title in a back-and-forth thriller.

In the heavyweight category Alexander Volkov** defeated Waldo Cortes-Acosta via unanimous decision. In the welterweight, Sean Brady defeated Joaquin Buckley via unanimous decision.

In the prelims, King Green submitted Jeremy Stephens; Yaroslav Amosov submitted Joel Alvarez; Jim Miller submitted Jared Gordon.

CIA: Iran Retains 75% Of Missile, Drone Capacity, Can Withstand U.S. Naval Blockade

According to a leaked CIA assessment, Iran retains about 70% of its prewar missile stockpile and 75% of its mobile launchers, contradicting public claims by President Donald Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth that Iran's military capabilities had been largely destroyed.

The intelligence report indicates Iran has recovered by reopening almost all of its underground storage and launch facilities damaged during initial strikes, repairing damaged missiles, and even assembling new ones that were near completion when the war began.

Trump and Hegseth claimed Iran’s military was “crushed” and its missiles “mostly decimated,” with Trump stating Iran retained only 18–19% of its arsenal. However, the CIA analysis suggests Iran can withstand the U.S. naval blockade for at least three to four months before facing severe economic hardship, especially if it uses overland oil smuggling routes through Central Asia.

Experts note this resilience, combined with Iran’s dispersed and hardened missile infrastructure, undermines U.S. strategic leverage and may have strengthened Tehran’s negotiating position. Analysts argue the U.S. underestimated Iran’s capacity to endure economic pressure and sustain military operations, while overestimating the effectiveness of air and naval campaigns.

This Iran's military resilience complicates U.S. objectives, as analysts warn that even prolonged economic pressure may not force capitulation given the leadership's increased determination and ability to sustain domestic repression.

The assessment emerged during a fragile ceasefire, one month after a genocidal threat by Trump and a reported 60-day war that cost the U.S. an estimated $71.8 billion. Trump has publicly characterized the war as an overwhelming victory, claiming Iran’s missile arsenal is "decimated" and that the country is losing $500 million daily, assertions that directly conflict with the CIA’s findings. The U.S. has paused "Project Freedom," a mission to escort commercial vessels through the Strait.

Iran reportedly launched missiles and drones at U.S. warships on this week prompting retaliatory strikes, signaling a potential collapse of the ceasefire.

Meanwhile ceasefire talks between the U.S. and Iran are ongoing via Pakistan and Qatar are ongoing. Vice President Vance met Friday in the White House with one of the key mediators, Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed Bin Abdul Rahman al-Thani. Tehran continues to review U.S. proposals that include demands for nuclear freeze and unrestricted strait access, with Iranian officials dismissing recent reports as an "American wish list."
